651mL thanks to DedicatedToFun. Clear, deep cola pour with larger tan foam. Nose is dark chocolate, malted milk balls, vanilla. Taste is strawberry, dark chocolate, mild dairy richness, roast, pine. Thicker, spicy palate. Solid Black IPA. slowrunner77 (12804) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 25, 2014
"No idea of the age, but new to me :) Bomber. Poured inky black and pretty thick head. Great feel, smooth. Almost stoutlike at first, like a bitter imperial stout, but became very well balanced as it warmed and opened up. Pine, spicy rye, and citrus, chocolate, roast, and a bittersweet aftertaste. Leaning towrds the darker malt over the hops, but just ever so slightly. Nice brew." Terminus (3716) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JUL 23, 2011
bottle-pours almost black with a soapy kacki head that lasted a long time cold but not very long warm. seems somewhat backwards. nose is of piney hops, char, smoke, lite chocolate with some herbal character. flavors are very chary with alot of pine and herbal hop notes. very well balanced but leaves a bigtime char finish. could be the least metallic Black IPA i have had to date. the malt has enough sweetness to overide the metalllic flavors. some alcohol detected long into the finish. somewhat warming. a very tasty example of this style! Thanks to a generous soul for sending this bottle my way. Served in a tulip.
Pours near black with a good off-white head that sticks around for a bit. Very thin cap and a good-sized collar hang around throughout. Lots of spotty lacing. The nose brings some earthy and piney hops along with a good dosing of roast and some slight chocolate character. The flavor doesn’t have quite as much hop character, but there’s a nice bitterness to round everything out. There’s a touch of rye, though I’m not sure I could have picked it out had I not known it was there. Medium body with good carbonation. Roasty bitterness through the finish. Solid brew.
