COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It was February 2nd 1989 when we opened our first brewery on Columbia Street in downtown San Diego. This easy drinking beer has been pouring since that very first day. Imported Munich malts give Columbia Street Amber its deep bronze color, smooth body, and crisp toasted flavor. Karl Strauss has grown, but the original brewery location remains. Raise a pint of Columbia Street Amber and join us in a cheers to San Diego’s vibrant craft beer scene.

Pretty solid example of the style. I'd like some more body and a touch less bitterness. Karl strauss SD.

A medium brown brew that is refreshing and not overly flavorful. On tap at Disneyland of all places.

Pours a clear copper brown on tap with fluffy off-white head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma and taste of toasted malts, a hint of nuttiness, and a clean lager crispness. Well done, malt forward, flavorful lager.

MetalNHopHead (2223) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - DEC 12, 2016
Even when compared with another well-known amber-hued Karl Strauss beer, Red Trolley, Columbia Street is a smooth-drinking, mild-mannered brew. This Amber Lager pours a light amber and has sweet lightly toasted grain smells. Mellow caramel and honey taste. Very little contribution from the hops. Certainly not the deepest beer in terms of complexity, but it’s a nice representation of the style and enormously drinkable.

Had this at the Grand Californian Hotel in Anaheim. Pours clean amber brown with a nice beige pillow. Aroma is sweet caramel with light earthy malts. Taste has a good malted backbone of sweetness with some toffee and light hopping. Easy drinking and good for a wedding reception.
