trailer. Clear golden pour with white head. Nice tooty fruity orange, citrusy, light pit fruit, spicy sweet aromas. Medium bodied. Fruity raisin, light pit fruit, spicy yeast flavors with a hefty pale malt base brew____very little alcohol showing___spicy drying finish----tasty.
22oz bottle on 9th July 2014 in the Costa Mesa Karl Strauss brewpub. Lovely sweet feel to this old gold coloured beer. Highly carbonated with caramel and toffee flavours throughout. The hops play their part, a mild citrus note is evident in both the nose and taste, but the malty molasses rule this brew. Paid $14:00 for the bottle and pleased I splashed out, even if it was happy hour and tap pints were only $4:00 each at the time. ryanfolty (2654) - Bourbon County, Minnesota, USA - MAR 27, 2014

On tap at flaming grill for beer week! Nice lacing. Very clear straw colour. Aroma is spicy and citrusy. Flavor also has the typical Belgium type flavours. Very smooth for the abv. But is a little flat for excitement factor. jehoesefat (372) - Poway, California, USA - FEB 17, 2014

Appearance: Bright with a great bubbly head.
Smell: Some spicy notes in the nose.
Taste: Mmmmmmmm. A lot going on here for me. Hops, spicy Belgian-ness, and really smooth on the finish. This beer is right up my alley.
Mouthfeel: Very smooth.
Drinkability: Yes, chilled, and all holiday season long if I’m lucky. Four Scowling Owls is on my current Short List of Favorite Beers. alyssanoel (1) - California, USA - JAN 7, 2014 does not count
I enjoyed the complexity of this one. Very clean, bright color (golden) and an aromatic head. Smells like orange and bubblegum, maybe some white pepper too. Definitely has that typical Belgian-style “kick.” Tastes spicy & sweet, don’t get a lot of hop balance but I think that’s okay for this style. Light – medium body, and a really nice finish. Warming, for sure. You only really sense the alcohol content at the end. Overall, I approve!
