12 oz. bottle courtesy of riversideak. Dark brown color with a soft red hue. The head is fluffy but fading away quickly. For a brown ale this is looking pretty good. Slight nuttiness with touches of roast and a VERY light smoke. This doesn’t last long seeing it is overshadowed by the subtle dark fruit aroma. Some raisin and grape, with a touch of Belgian yeast. Dig deep with the nostrils because it is not extremely pungent. Well-balanced and nuanced, just not much is popping out at me. Light body, with a weird nut flavor that has some grape and raisin backing to it. For a brown ale there are some nice twists to this style, but overall it just isn’t wowing me whatsoever. I don’t ever expect brown ales to be thick, but you could use a bit more malts and plump this sucker up. mrhoppy (1288) - Santa Clara, California, USA - FEB 26, 2010
Fantastic beer. Caramel toast sweet and spicy. You have got to try this one. Not overly Belgium. Nice light and super balanced. Flavors blend well and great finish. wetherel (1883) - Cupertino, California, USA - FEB 25, 2010
On tap at Karl Strauss Carlsbad. Light buttery sweetness. Amber color. Creamy head. Easy to drink. Good. elihapa (1553) - Honolulu, Hawaii, USA - FEB 17, 2010
On tap. Strong bready notes along with toasted malt and dried fruit in the aroma. Body is medium-thick, a bit oily. Flavor suggests grilled toast, smoke, and meatymalts. A touch of hop bitterness on the finish cuts the sweetness. Not bad, but underwhelming. User29624 (1683) - - FEB 15, 2010
Tap @ the brewpub. Pours brown with a tan head. Aroma and flavor of belgian yeast, caramel, vanilla, sugar, and dark fruit. Actually a well done beer. I think the image might beer wrong for this beer though.

Rating #15 of this brew. Some Italian rest./Sports Bar on Balboa in SD. Looks like a brown ale. Quickly disappearing off-white big-bubbled head. Nose is sweet malt. High sweetness with tiny bit of spice. Taste is all sweet malt. Light brown sugar burst with not much after the finish. Very light mouthfeel. I didn’t pick up typical Belgian characteristics, except for MAYBE the TINIEST hint of citricy sweetness. bhensonb (15191) - Woodland, California, USA - JAN 29, 2010
12 oz bottle from Bev4less. Pours amber with a foamy beige/tan head. Aromas of roast malt and yeast/spice. Some veg or fruit. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is roast malt, fruit and some spice. Bit different. Pretty much Belgian. Good drink. StefanSD (2451) - Ouray, Colorado, USA - JAN 27, 2010
12 oz bottle from Bev4less. Pours a translucent brown color with a big creamy beige head that has fair retention. The aroma is musty-earthy with burnt chestnuts, dust and yeast. The flavor is more of the same, burnt chestnuts, dust, spicy Belgian style yeast and a bit of biscuit. The mouthfeel is a bit light with fair carbonation. The finish is short and dry with a bit of lingering biter walnut. Overall: A very interesting little beer, well done Karl S. riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - JAN 23, 2010
Bottle from snojerk321. Karl Strauss is in the house ho. Karl Strauss.com holler at your boy. Orange Blossom fest drunken debauchery whats up bitch thats whats up. Driving the palate van around with people sitting on cases like a motherfucking taxi cruising through Riverside breaking all the laws. Oh yeah. Nose on this one is light belgian yeast, touch of brown bread, vanilla, and caramel. Pretty pleasant nose actually. Great looking beer, awesome lace and head on top of a brown beer with nice red hues. Brown bread, light fruity yeast notes and a touch of vanilla. Easy drinking yet rather complex. Light sweet and dry mouth feel. Really nice Bet this mother fuking thing wasn’t made in mother fucking Stevens Point. Step your game up. JohnC (3008) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - JAN 13, 2010

Nice brown pour with red highlights and a one inch white head. This beer is easy to drink, but nicely complex with sweetness, vanilla and some spiciness
------ tap at Karl Strauss in Costa Mesa, CA, this beer pours a dark mahogany color with an off white head. The flavor is mildly roasty with some candy sugar sweetness.
