UPDATED: MAY 1, 2016 Restrained aroma in a copper pour. Full bodied flavour tends to the sweet/malt but quick clean finish leaves one wanting another (and there’s nothing wrong with that). Terminus (3738) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JUL 13, 2011
tap at downtown San Diego location-pours deep red with a small off white head with lite lacing. earthy lightly dark fruit nose with some resin from the big hops used. huge earthy flavors and a dark burnt malt and resinous finish. lots of earthy tones long into the fade of the finish. has some light heat on the finish as it warmed up a bit. plate is lively with a slick and sticky feeling. decent iowaherkeye (2804) - Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, USA - NOV 27, 2011
22oz bottle, no date. $8.99 at Beverages 4 Less in Santee. Also, my bottle states that this beer is now 8.5%. Clear orange brown with a 1/2 finger beige head, creamy with fair retention. Pleasantly fruity sweet aroma that consists of plenty of caramel malt and almond, very light vanilla, and moderate tropical fruity hops. The flavor follows suit, which, for me is a nice surprise. Usualy it seems beers in this style go for brash and aggressive, but this was pretty easy drinking--no ridiculous hop bitterness or over the top scorched caramel toffee sweetness that I come to expect from this "style." The tropical fruit hops are still there, but more or less just complementing the caramel malts. Definitely sweet, but not too sweet. Semi-dry finish, light alcohol noted, with bitterness peaking at a 3. Low carbonation with a medium full body. Nothing crazy exciting, but still was enjoyable. Reminded me of New Glarus’ Alt beer from a few years back, at least with the sweetness and the almond notes. jehoesefat (372) - Poway, California, USA - MAR 12, 2014
Super malty aromas, all caramel and bread. Pours clear copper-red with a white head. Caramel flavors and a sweet finish. ads135 (5207) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - NOV 11, 2014
A pretty good, dark amber beer. Potent and rich raisin, brown sugar and bread character. Picked this one up in SF in 2014.

Smooth and very sweet. I know the hops are scored at 70, but I don't taste them. I also don't taste the alcohol - dangerous! oh6gdx (26485) - Vasa, FINLAND - JUN 20, 2015

Amber colour, small slightly off white head. Aroma is caramel, some ripe fruits, berries and mild toasted toffee. Flavouir is nutty, floral some fruity and ripe fruity notes as well as quite sweet malts.
65 cl can @ Sankt Hans Tasting, Ulfborg
Aroma has coffee, bready malt and some sweet malty notes typical to ASAs. Flavour has roasted tones, resin, sweet malty tones and nuts. Like an ASA mixed with dunkel. Too sweet for my taste. olio (10669) - Tampere, FINLAND - OCT 11, 2015

Pours clear amber color with a small head. Very nutty and bready aroma, sweet caramel malts and resinous hops, some pine also. Sweet caramel malt flavor, nuts, subtle coffee notes, toffee and resin. Sweetish, full-bodied, tasty. A bit Bock-like. Definitely better than the Red Trolley Ale, more balanced.
I wouldn’t say the hops are aggressive at all, but a nice suped up version of red trolley. Big in body without being hot.
