Thanks to daknole. Bottle pours deep brown with a tan head. Aroma shows notes of chocolate covered dates, espresso, vanilla, and light roast. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of toffee, raisin, and oak. StormCoat (123) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 16, 2011
Tasted a bomber bottle. Pours a very dark, translucent brown with a medium-sized, fluffy beige head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Flavors are rich, sweet, and very interesting: lots of chocolate and molasses, pitted against juicy dark fruit notes such as raisin. A smooth and somewhat oily mouthfeel, and while this beer seems fairly rich, it’s still drinkable and doesn’t feel overly heavy. My favorite thing about this beer is the long finish and aftertaste, which reminds me of cherries backed by a light coffee bitterness. Really nice. I’ll look forward to drinking this again next winter. daknole (11050) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - FEB 10, 2011

Nose is chocolatey with light vanilla and port notes. Pours dark brown, thin head. Flavors of roast, chocolate, light vanilla sweetness, a little thin. I wanted more out of this. Not bad, but sounded better on paper.

22oz bottle, thanks Alex. Pours with a nice big even head and fluffy lacing. Quite dry and roasty with a peppery finish, hints of wine, toffee and raisins. Roasty patent malt, burnt nuts, toffee, coffee, licorice, oak, peat, light raisin. Touch more port notes would had been nice. jtclockwork (17101) - , New Jersey, USA - JAN 29, 2011
Bottle thanks to hopscotch. Pours black with off white head. Vinous notes in nose and taste. Nose is also chocolate malt and vanilla beans. Taste is chocolate malt, sarsaparilla, vanilla beans, barrel and light lactose sweetness. ChazMania (669) - Oceanside, California, USA - JAN 24, 2011
Poured into a Tulip glass. Mild aroma, faint of mocha and malt. Dark but not opaque pour. Taste is more mild than nose or color; some smoke and toast flavor, ok palate, not too bright but not chewy either. Good but not great for this style. JohnnyJ (5569) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 23, 2011
22 oz bottle. Dark brown, slightly red pour, with thin off-white bubbly head. Chocolate, molasses, fruit, raisin, light red grape, sweet caramel, and earth. Actually pretty decent, especially for Karl Strauss, probably the best one from them that I have tried. drfabulous (8488) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - JAN 21, 2011
22 ounce thanks to Luckyhank. Pours a big cream head. Nice sugar sweet porter. Molasses. Little bit of coffee. Sweetness is more of a milk stout sweetness. Nice overall.
