22oz bottle. Rating #16. Very dark red almost maroon color, not very porterish, the head is a nice creamy dark tan with pretty decent lacing. Roasty aroma, a little smokey even, the coffee is very present. Wow, the flavor is very different from the aroma, sweet dark fruits and just a touch of the coffee in the finish, very smooth but very tasty. Bottle from total wine in Rancho Cucamonga. Poured a dark brown with a chestnut head. Aroma was sweet brown sugar and roasted matl. Taste was mild coffee, chocolate, spices, oak and some mild port. Frothy carbonation. Very nice stuff. badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - DEC 10, 2010
Dark brown with a fizzy tan head and soda-like carbonation. Aroma and taste of coffee and chocolate with a hint of vanilla but disappointingly almost no port barrel evident. papajohn (1250) - San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA - DEC 7, 2010
Growler to go from Sorrento Mesa location: Dark brown color with an initial medium, fading beige head. Aroma to me is light milk chocolate with a hint of coffee and cream. Flavor starts smooth with some dark fruit followed by dark chocolate, a little coffee and a light bakers chocolate bitter finish. Medium body is creamy with moderate carbonation. On tap at O’Brien’s in San Diego with my bros. Rich, deep, and dark. Dark fruit, chocolate, licorice, coffee. Creamy and oaky in the back. Thought it was a stout when I was drinking it. Clean finish. Nice!

Thanks to joet for sharing this bomber at the second-ever tasting at my place. Pours dark brown with excellent clarity and a manila one-finger pillowy head from compact bubbles. Dark fruit, dark malt sinewy character to aroma with a trace of alcohol. Head fades to halo, with some lacing left on pint glass. Cacao nibs and dark fruit dominate the layered flavor that seems to span the spectrum without a deep roast or bitter hop note (which would be unwanted in this style. And if rating for style, one might quibble that it has a bit much residual sweetness coupled with a slight alcohol astrigency, so a bit big). The style-signature clean lager yeast character is there, with a floury mid-palate, then the finish warms with notes of brandy and tangy raisins. crvcac (8) - , California, USA - NOV 29, 2010 does not count
Appearance: Dark brown with a tan, thick creamy head.
Aroma: Wonderful bouquet of dark fruits, hints of expresso and light dark chocolate. Slight spice
Taste: A lot is going on here. Boasts a complex mixture of dark fruits, roasted coffee like flavors (minus the astringency), touch of chocolate, oakiness from the barrel aging? Wonderful mixture for a winter warmer.
Mouthfeel: Nice and smooth. The abv is just right for a Baltic porter. Just the right kick to bring on that nice winter
Coat we all seek from a good winter warmer.
Drinkability: Highly quaffable. Pour me another please. LtDan (1806) - Los Angeles County, California, USA - NOV 28, 2010
Appearance: Pours a dark brown with a tan dense creamy 1 inch head.JohnC (3008) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - NOV 26, 2010
Aroma: Chocolate covered shortbread cookies, cherry cordials and hazelnut.
Taste: Dark chocolate, roast, coffee, tart cherry, black forest cake, slight spicy hop. Slight barrel note in the finish.
Mouthfeel: Creamy rich mouthfeel with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Balanced, complex dessert beer. I don’t think this one will age well past a year mark, and it’s really in prime drinking shape now.

Dark brown pour with a minimal head, this beer has a nice flavor of light roast, chocolate, coffee, with a twang of winy-ness. I liked the flavor. Very tasty and a nice beer for sipping. Snojerk321 (2960) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 23, 2010
Bottle from K & B wine cellars. Pours an opaque coffee brown with a faint ruby hue. Nose holds roasted malts, light hops and a faint barrel presence. Light vinous notes on the palate. Karl has honestly been kicking ass the past few years, keep it up!!
