(12oz bottle thanks to blutt59) clear orange pour with a thin layer of off-white bubbles. Nose of honey, cereal grains and oranges. Taste of mashed grain, light citrus oils, and wheat. Nice sweet and hop balance in this one and it has a tasty linger.

Bottle from South Bay Drug. Pours brilliant copper with a slight foamy beige head. Nice citrus aroma. Medium plus body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is frisky caramel with almost enough citrus hop to balance. It’s really a good flavor. Very palatable.

Bottle thanks to blutt59. I have rated this beer before on tap, so these ratings will be merged soon, but I might as well re-rate it. Pours with a clear golden body and a small, white head. Aroma of citrus, pineapple, spicy and herbal. Taste is citrus, herbal and grassy. Light bubbles. Tastes quite fresh.

On tap at the Universal City Location. Pours with a small, white, long lasting head covering a clear yellow body. Aroma of honey and very mild hops (British hops of some sort). Dry, earthy taste, very malty. Dry mouthfeel.

My bottle of Pintail Pale Ale poured a rich golden amber color. Decent head. Had a really clean look. A pleasant aroma, hints of citrus (maybe grapefruit?) Taste: Wow - this ale delivers big on the citrus with the first sip. Pretty cool. I think my favorite thing about the Pintail is the malts I get mid-sip. Creates a nice balance with the vibrant hops. My bottle had a fairly ale-standard medium body - Nothing crazy. This is a smooth pale ale with an interesting hoppiness. I’d totally recommend this. Can’t wait for a hot San Diego day to enjoy a couple more.

UPDATED: MAY 18, 2010 6 pack from BevMo Carmel Mtn. Ranch: Deep orange-amber color with a medium eggshell white head. Aroma is light sweet citrus. Flavor starts light sweet caramel followed by citrus and a light dry grapefruit -lemon finish. Medium body is tangy with moderate carbonation. One of Karl Strauss’s better brews. : )

Damn, forgot to enter this...12oz. bottle

Appearance: Pours a clear amber orange with a retaining thin cap of head.

Aroma: A nice hoppy aroma featuring herbal and citrus notes.

Taste: Bitterness, citrus, and a bite of salty caramel.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, slightly juicy and moderate carbonation.

Overall: A very solid APA that I think most would enjoy. It isn’t as crisp as most California Pale Ales, but the malt backbone will make this much more approachable to folks who don’t care for a Sierra Nevada type of APA.

Draught. Clear reddish copper with some small white head. Aroma is floral hops with tangy fruit (grapefruit or pineapple). Medium body and carbonation. Flavour starts sweet and fruity (pineapple or grapefruit again) and ends with a pleasant bitter finish. A well balanced pale ale.

This is a perfect little beer. At 5.3 it’s still abundantly flavorful and with thin but strong wave of dry hopping. Despite the abundant hop character it’s not "balanced" by sweetness in a way that mars the texture with sticky sugars. It goes down very easily and yet still makes a contribution to Thai food, fish tacos, burgers and salads. This is the best beer I’ve had all week. I’m not kidding.
