UPDATED: DEC 15, 2015 Clear golden color with white head. Aroma is somehow faint, some malts and earthy hops. Taste is also pretty simple. Slightly hoppy, slightly malty, not too bitter. Medium body with quite low carbonation. Easy drinking but nothing more.

12fl Oz BB 01/2015 Golden body, slight haze, holds a firm white head. Good aroma with light caramel & grainy malts combining with spicy, wood hops with notes of stonefruit & citrus peel. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, smooth mouthfeel. Offers plenty of resiny woody & citrusy hops on the body, bolstered by a solid dose of toasty cereally pale malt goodness. Finishes with a firm but clean bitterness, very refreshing. Nice APA, plenty to like.

12 oz bottle from Bev4less. Pours a copper color with a small white head that soon recedes to a fine ring. The aroma is soft with sweet malts and mild hops. The flavor is biter and sweet with pine resins and caramel malts working in a nice balance. The palate was just a bit light, and the carbonation was lively. Finishes short and clean. Overall: A good everyday ale.

Bottle from South Bay Drugs: Created a small layer of film for a head while the liquid was a sparkling golden honey color. My nose detects a decent amount of hops with scent of citrus and the signature Karl Strauss malts. The flavor is sort of bland and boring with only a minimal presence of bitter hops but with a bigger taste of sweetness attributed to the caramel like malts. Also, the malt gives off a bready flavor that balances out well with the floral hops that have a notice of honey or flowers.

UPDATED: OCT 23, 2012 medium copper with almost no head. Floral hops aroma with spicy hop flavor balanced by the malt. A solid pale ale (re-rate / cask at San Diego downtown location) fluffy head. Nice hops aroma. Great cask mouthfeel.

[Bottle] Golden amber hue, modest head formation. Citrussy hop, mild caramel aroma. Citrussy lemon and grapefruit from start to finish, malt is minimal making for a rather light body. Decent light, hoppy pale ale.

Bottle from Dan Murphy’s. Very tasty, and a with a great nose. Aromas of apricot, caramel, citrus, nuts. Taste is sweet, with bitter notes, and average length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Amber, with a frothy head.

As soon as I opened this beer, as well as the hiss, there was an immediate surge of resinous hops in my nostrils. Crikey. The body of the beer is orange amber with a puffy white head and another blast of herbal hoppiness when I poke my nose anywhere near the beer. It is strongly reminiscent of green spruce cones and redwood resin. Just glorious. The immediate impressions of the taste is that it isnt as massive as its aroma. It is gently carbonated and then those herbs come through with a slightly sweet stonefruit body but then they return with chlorophyll-like bitterness. I am not in the least disappointed. It’s a good exemplar of its style while retaining its individuality. It’s more herbal than other APAs and delightfully so.
