pours a reddish amber with a small off white head with some lacing. Aroma is of citrus, pine, sweet bready malts, and some caramel. Taste is of citrus, pine resin, tropical fruits, bready sweet malts, and some caramel malts. has a medium body wit nice carbonation, a semi creamy mouthfeel and a dry, semi bitter, yet refreshing finish. overall, a very drinkable, well balaced, and pretty decent tasting pale.

Damn, forgot to enter this...12oz. bottle

Appearance: Pours a clear amber orange with a retaining thin cap of head.

Aroma: A nice hoppy aroma featuring herbal and citrus notes.

Taste: Bitterness, citrus, and a bite of salty caramel.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, slightly juicy and moderate carbonation.

Overall: A very solid APA that I think most would enjoy. It isn’t as crisp as most California Pale Ales, but the malt backbone will make this much more approachable to folks who don’t care for a Sierra Nevada type of APA.

No love for Karl Strauss? I thought this was a very nice brew. Pours clear dark golden copper color with a fluffy white two finger head. Floral aroma, with some light citrus coming in in the big nose. Flavor is a nice sweet citrus and light bitter pine on the finish. There is a definite malty biscuit backbone on this one with some caramel sweetness. Slick mouthfeel with high carbonation and some bite lingering on the palate. Very nice beer.

Bottle. Golden color, off-white head. Slightly buttery flavor with a lemony finish. Medium-full body, medium carbonation. Nah.

UPDATED: SEP 15, 2016 Citrus aroma in an amber pour. A delightful drink that ticks all the pale ale boxes with a perfectly balanced body and a laid back, but sustained, bitter finish.

On draft at the SD airport. Poured a clear gold. Some hops on the nose, mostly piney, lightly roasted caramel malts. Tasted more of the same, not very hoppy.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2011 Poured from a bottle into a pilsner glass. Just over an inch of head. Color was caramel. Plenty of lacing on top with some film on the sides. The film stayed throughout the pour. Initial whiff was pine and grapefruit, followed by hops. Initial taste was a pleasant balance of hops, pine and grapefruit, followed by a small hint of bitterness. Even some lemon wafer cookies in there as well. Moderate on the carbonation. Flavor stayed consistent throughout. Pine and hops rule the day. I thought this beer was going to be good and it didn’t disappoint. Heavy on the hops, but smooth. Great combination.

Draft: Part of the July sampler. Nice, solid, clean, true to style, well crafted. Food Pairing: BBQ ribs.

October 5th, 2013 - The Pintail: hoppy, fresh and piney in the nose, and the flavor keeps up. There’s a nice depth of hops, a floral flourish, and a good, refreshing quality overall.
