Old bottle, had to be, no way someone would sell this as a APA, flat lifeless beer malt bomb and paper. peteinSD (1469) - San Diego, California, USA - APR 12, 2013
Tap @ Carlsbad brewpub. Slightly hazy golden orange pour with a slick of white foam. Aroma is light bitterness, citrus and pine with a heavy sweet malt presence. Taste is a nice balance of pine and bitterness but there’s a heavy sweet malt, caramel flavor in the background which muddies it up quickly. Not very clean. doubleo (1432) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 19, 2008
On-tap at the TapRoom. Pours slightly hazy amber with a thinnish white head, good lace. Smells light syrupy hoppy, slightly fruity sweet, earthy, slightly nutty, some malts. Tastes of some iced tea, nutty hops and some sweet cereal malts. Not that good but drinkable. Medium body, good carbonation. TedE (1428) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - MAR 12, 2015
355 ml bottle into tall glass. Excellent citric hop/caramel nose. Hazy copper beer with solid small head. Medium carbonation. Quite flat light mouthfeel. Taste starts as malt then turns all pineapple on you. Unexpectedly sweet finish that lingers. It’s like Belgian chocolates at the start but Juicy Fruit at the end. Bottle - pours amber with a frothy head. Soft fruity aroma mainly pineapple, some malt. Sweet malt taste up front, then a lingering hoppy finish. Balance mouthfeel.

I assume that this is the same as the 'Star of India Pale Ale' that I had on draft in the San Diego airport. I think that it's the same thing based on the descriptions on their web site, but they didn't respond to my email and it's not really worth pursuing any more. A little bit too hoppy, to the point where it tastes almost minty. Amber color, weak head. I actually drank it 2 months ago and found the rating sheet the other day. drjoeng (1358) - SINGAPORE - OCT 9, 2016
5.3%ABV. Pale ale.
Poured out deep gold. 10ºSRM.
Nose is sweet with caramel and corn syrup. Not a whole lot of freshness in the nose. Maybe a hint of pine oil. Sweet citrus with orange peel and blossoms. Nose has some nice honey aromas.
Mouthfeel is light soapy. Palate has some nice clean toasted breadcrumbs, Hops are spicy with cilantro, Thai basil.
Finish is brief and clean. Oscbert (1319) - Lincoln, California, USA - JUN 13, 2008
~Pours a reddish amber with diminishing white head.
~ Sour citrus hop scent with some sweetness.
~Grapefruit taste with some sweetness.
~Light feel, bitter finish.
~This is an enjoyable pale ale. A little light though. varanid99 (1315) - AUSTRALIA - SEP 9, 2013
Orange pour with a thin off white head. Grapefruit, floral, malt aroma. Taste is caramel, citrus, cantaloupe. Finishes slightly bitter. mrhoppy (1288) - Santa Clara, California, USA - DEC 30, 2013
On tap at the brewpub - Pours clear amber with a thin off-white head. Nose is a blast of citrus--grapefruit with a little pine and onion. Clean malt body, crackery with nice grapefruit and floral hops. Thin and clean body. Awesome--just what I’m looking for in an APA.
