Very pale amber color with a foamy head. Aroma is of carmelized malt and hops override it. A nice caramel flavor as well with a nip of hops. Totally drinkable...nothing incredible. wetherel (1888) - Cupertino, California, USA - SEP 6, 2008
On tap at Karl Strauss Carlsbad. Brown amber color. Lots of hop bitterness. Nice clean grassy hoppy aroma. Very nuce. Karl Strauss keeps getting better and better. I think several of the staff are getting heavier into brewing, attending QUAFF, etc, which is helping the beer quality. papajohn (1250) - San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA - APR 28, 2010

Tap @ the brewpub, San Diego. Nice head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are peach, pine, citrus, flowers, hops and malt. Jado (803) - Camp Hill, AUSTRALIA - AUG 7, 2012
There’s not a lot on the nose, but it looks good - deep clear amber with a lasting white head and lively carbonation. Taste is driven by some nice hops flavours with citrus, pine and herbal tones coming through. Maybe a bit thinner than other West Coast APAs, but it’s refreshing and sessionable. Will be back for more. Leighton (21827) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 17, 2013
Draft at Karl Strauss - Downtown San Diego location. Pours clear, rich gold with a creamy white cap. Good aroma, lots of dank grapefruit and pine. Light to medium sweet flavor with further grapefruit, some mango and melon, a bit of sticky pine and orange rind. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Well balanced to finish with some sticky, resinous pine, light toasted bread, grapefruit, a bit of rindy bitterness. Quite solid, really. Has a nice hop kick without being over the top. Poured from a bottle into a tumbler. A rich amber toffee colour with a small head that very quickly dissipates leaving some lacing. On the nose it has tropical fruit aromas and some piney resin hops, a very pleasant smelling apa. Taste is not as bitter as expected with nice malt and pleasant mouthfeel. Overall very sessionable and refreshing.
