Tap at Cap Tap. Pours really dark brown with a beige or tan head. It’s quite ruddy against the light. Aroma is indeed rather tart cherry. Med ++ body. Flavor is something like dark malt with a great deal of mixed cherry - must be some cooking cherry, but not entirely. It is to me more sour than tart. The mix gets a bit earthy with time, but the cherry never goes away. This is excellent.

marcus (10326) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAR 22, 2017
On tap at Cap Tap. Pours Dark copper with a nice beige head and a sourish dark malt aroma. There is a hearty sour malt flavor with a bit of bourbon in the finish. Not bad.

On tap at Karl Strauss, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small white head. Aroma brings out an interesting mix of roasted malt and tart dark fruits. Flavour is rich, with loss of roasted malt and tart dark fruits. Wonderful mix of the roast and tartness - excellent marriage.

GarrettB (1607) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 26, 2017
November 16th, 2014 - Karl Strauss’ Queen of Tarts is a clever play on the iconic Queen of Hearts, but where she was more of the bitter type (in both the book and the Disney classic), this beer is supreme tart and sour. Even the aroma is sour, eclipsing what might be hints of some wood qualities (cask aging?) and a hint of a berry medley. The flavor is exceptionally sour too, with the same sense that there are other flavors present but that they are crowded out by the acidic notes.
