A decent offering, well worth the money and i’d possibly get it again. Just didn’t knock my socks off.
Pretty tasty, very drinkable, mild caramel flavor, hints of fruit and bitterness. very good per style. Elwood (3336) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - JUN 15, 2010

It pours a nice amber color with a small, foamy, off-white head. The nose has some tropical notes to it with a whiff of chocolate malt. The flavor leans on the tasteless side. A bit of chocolate, a little bitterness, and not much else. The body is light to medium with a short to medium finish. This is one mediocre brew.
a nice big amber. maltiness abounds. pretty simple beer. pours a nice copper color. aroma is a little sweet. nice carbonation. rotoguru (126) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUN 9, 2010
SD trip, Karl Strauss LaJolla, sampler, had these while having a larger DIPA, flavors and ratings may be rough: Reddish brown; weak nose and even weaker flavor, really bland.

A perfect clear amber color with a head the flees quickly. Slight caramel aroma that is amplified beautifully in the first sip. A solid caramel malt body with just enough hop flavor to make it interesting. Creamy smooth on the palate and with a nice woody sweetness. An all-around excellent amber ale from a great brewery. On tap at Chili’s and the Fireside Lounge at the Country Inn & Suites in Mira Mesa, CA. obguthr (6592) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - JUN 8, 2010
Buttery diacetyl smell. Clear copper, thin yellow head. Like the Karl Strauss Pin tail I sampled immediately before this one, the flavor of tea dominates. Perhaps my glass didn’t get a good rinse. Clover and honey remains on the palate. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - JUN 6, 2010

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2010 One of the best beers on the market today. The rich aroma and taste leave me thirsting for more. A must try. itfitz (10) - California, USA - MAY 27, 2010
With hints of resin, herbs, caramel, cereal, nuts, and roasty undertones, this easily-consumed beer has lively carbonation which gives it a light, pleasant finish.
