UPDATED: AUG 8, 2014 Pours a nice clear amber color with a white head. Aroma of toasted nuts, sweet malt, and caramel. Flavor matches aroma, very low bitterness, sweet caramel malt with toasted nuts.

12oz bottle. Pours amber brown with a moderate head that leaves considerable lacing in its wake. The aroma consists of caramel, bread, nuts, toast, spruce, and wood. Tastes moderately sweet with little bitterness or sourness.

Drank from a bottle. Nice, complex aroma. Strong flavoored caramel malts with hints of cherry.

Not a very good beer at all. Your much better sticking with AleSmith and Stone beers. Malty, not very hoppy at all, did not enjoy the aftertaste.

UPDATED: DEC 22, 2013 Great aroma which leads to a "serviceable" sweet, taste. Would continue to buy if nothing else on the shelf caught my attention.

12 oz bottle in San Diego. I have no idea why I bought this. I loathe sweet, caramelly beers, and that’s exactly what this is. Although the beer has the expected head retention, dark amber (red) color, and is crystal clear, I simply don’t like it. Waaaay too much crystal malt for my tastes, not nearly offset enough by bittering hops. This beer is all about the malt base and nearly zero hops to offset the sweetness in flavor or aroma. Even for an "Irish Red" style, it’s too sweet to the point of being cloying. Sorry Karl but even Killians is better.

Very drinkable. Great ruby/ deep burnt orange color. Very minimal head, but decent carbonation nonetheless. Slightly sweet upon first tasting. Something I could probably make a decent session out of.

I drank a lot of this while in San Diego. Very good beer. One of my favorites. Wish I could find it out east. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at the Chili’s in Torrance, CA. Aroma has a hint of malt, not much hops in there. Amber red with a small tan beige head. Smooth malt flavor with a slight hint of chocolate in there. Caramely and a little sweet. Easy drinking and dry in the finish. Well made and no real flaws. Could be a little more assertive.
