With hints of resin, herbs, caramel, cereal, nuts, and roasty undertones, this easily-consumed beer has lively carbonation which gives it a light, pleasant finish.

Appearance: attractive clear coppery-amber pour, with one fat finger of off-white head; minimal lacing. Aroma: caramel, brown sugar, sweet and toasty malts. Taste: caramel, toffee, brown sugar, a bit of raisin and possibly some light maple syrup. Finish: smooth, toasty, slightly sweet, with a pleasant lingering malty-ness. Notes: Now this was just an AWESOME beer. Really malty-tasting, but not a malt bomb per se. While on the sweet side, it wasnt too sweet. Just a swell, easy drinking beer, and probably the best Irish Ale Ive ever had. On tap at the downtown SD location.

Bottle from Dan Murphys. Malty, nice. Aromas of caramel, nuts. Taste is sweet, with average length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Amber, with a disappearing head.

Pours a red amber with small foam head. Aroma is malty with berry and hints of raisin. Taste is different than most beers, malty and hoppy with a sweet berry and raisin flavor finish. This beer surprised me when I first drank it, since the taste wasnt typical. Its a good beer I will drink it again.

5.8%ABV. Red Ale. Poured out red brown. 24SRM. Nose is nutty, with a hint of leather. Nice hit of raw dough and wheat flour. Mouthfeel is beery. Palate is clean and nutty. There are malty biscuit-like flavors. Chin chow and red bean paste on the palate for local flavors. Hint of phenol. Hops are bitter and noble. Finish is beery light and sweet, reminiscent of chin chow. Overall a very full-bodied red ale with a nice clean light finish. Goes on Favorites List!

UPDATED: APR 25, 2008 One of my favorite amber ales. Kind of a cross between an alt and an ESB? Malty/grainy body is luscious, but not too heavy. Just enough hoppy bite to balance through the finish. Beautiful red ale.

On tap for $8 at San Diego Airport. Served in a 20-ounce plastic cup. Poured a deep, dark mahogany-chestnut body with a frothy white head. Great looking. Caramel, sweet, bready, creamy English biscuit flavor. Finished smooth and full-bodied. A very nice beer.

Had it at Karl Strauss La Jolla. I thought it was pretty decent, it was sort of sweet with a lingering taste of dates.

Very drinkable red ale. Good aroma, color and body. Enjoyed the beer a couple of minutes ago. Good caramel malt flavor.

On tap at Karl Strauss in Universal City Walk Hollywood. Pours a clear, medium brown color with creamy, off-white head. Aroma is slightly sweet with malts. Taste is very good for its style. Slightly sweet and delicious.
