12 oz. bottle, six pack from BevMo. Pours a clear, rich copper color with a small whitish head that diminishes rapidly. Aroma of toasty malts, herbs and sweet bread, hints of clover and citrus. Flavor also of toasty malts, a bit of caramel, biter herby hops, lemon grass, citrus peel, a bit of clay and a slightly peppery, astringent finish. Medium body, lightly oily and a gentle tingle on the tongue. Overall a much better, hoppier IPA than their standard. Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - MAY 31, 2009
On tap at the brewpub in Universal Studios LA. Pours a clear golden body with a finger-width, creamy white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a light lacing. Sweet piney grapefruit aroma with a touch of sweeter caramels. Taste is similar with a lingering pine. Not too aggressive, but a nice, lighter earth and balancing caramels. Palate is light to medium bodied with a touch of carbonation. Overall, a nice session IPA. Enough taste to satisfy and better than anticipated. Draft at Disney’s California Adventure Park. Nose is pine and citrus hops. Lightly hazy amber with a medium beige head. Flavor is light bitterness which lasts to the finish. Not bad for Disneyland. NobleSquirrel (3439) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 26, 2009
Bottle from Snojerk321. Pours a nice copper color and disappearing head. Nose is citrus and a touch of caramel. On taste, I get a bit of an earthy taste with a lighter hop character than expected. Touch of metal as well. Overall, this isn’t a bad IPA, actually pretty decent. jimbowood (1036) - Freeport, Georgia, USA - MAY 16, 2009
Bottle from naven. Too much malt and not enough hops for a west coast ipa. Like an English ipa.

Tap @ downtown location. Poured clear copper with a short white head. Minimal lacing. Light, grassy aroma with piney hops, white pepper, and citrus. Watery mouthfeel. Refreshing taste, mostly grapefruit and a light bitter resiny taste. Some mineral and bread flavors, dry finish. Came across as an IPA-lite. Bottle from an unknown liquor store in Chula Vista: Created a half inch of fluffed white foam while the ale is an auburn hue. I’m able to smell a decent amount of hops as well as the alcohol content of the drink. The flavor ranges from a Karl Strauss signature style of malts and a faint background of pine and floral hops. Flavors are to minor and unsubstantial to give this IPA any worth deserving credentials. jeremytoni (3085) - Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA - APR 28, 2009
From the tap poured amber with a fair amount of head. Hoppy flavor with a lasting finish. Vac (2445) - San Diego, California, USA - APR 24, 2009
Pours with an orange-amber body topped by a thick head with little lacing left on the glass. The aroma is nice...full of fresh green hop notes and light notes of orange. The flavor is citrusy (predominantly orange) with sweet notes, a little underlying hops and a note of alcohol. Kinda reminds me of a screwdriver. medium bodied, smooth and a bit dry. skmikeg (1826) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 15, 2009
UPDATED: APR 17, 2009 Pour a nice copper color with a tan head. taste is malty with a okay bitter hop finish. does finish clean. however, this does seem to be a little water downed. while it is much better then Stargazer, it lacks the charcter and body of a great IPA.
