Hazy pale yellow with a medium white head. Sweet and yeasty aroma with wheat and banana. Flavour had wheat, yeast and banana notes. Finished fairly sweet. rotoguru (126) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUN 9, 2010
SD trip, Karl Strauss LaJolla, sampler, had these while having a larger DIPA, flavors and ratings may be rough: Hazy unfiltered wheat with banana notes and good bavarian style. Very drinkable. rhys_mavis (11) - San Diego, California, USA - MAY 27, 2010
Love this beer and love this beach. Wish I could partake in them both at the same time. Wind and Sea is a perfect beer for me when its hot outside and I would typically reach for a lighter beer because I don’t find it to be as filling as other heffs. llcooldave (1221) - San Antonio, Texas, USA - MAY 21, 2010
Wonderful creamy flavor with some banana, vanilla and spice coming through. Mostly clove though. Cloudy yellow in color. Nose is a bit spicy with more of the clove aroma shining through. Overall this is a pleasure to drink. It actually reminds me more of a wit than a hefe. Good stuff!

On tap; poured a murky, ruddy gold with not much white head. Aroma of wheat, banana, grain, and bread. Flavor had something strange about it. Wheat, banana, not much sweetness, with some grainy breadiness. An off finish.

On tap at Karl Strauss at the La Jolla location (San Diego, CA): Pours out a cloudy pale yellow. Nose is of candied banana and some clove. Flavor of whole wheat banana bread and fruity bubble gum. Carbonated throughout the feel with an added milk shake texture. Lemon zest finish. Very sweet. Drinkability: Tastes really commercial. But close to solid for the style they’re presenting. Pairing: Light salad over garlic seasoned pita bread. Rebuy: Probably not. #313 on 01032010, DG. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - FEB 23, 2010
On tap at LAX May 2009: Pours a hazy golden brass with a well-lacing frothy white head. Aroma of lightly sweet malted wheat and banana esters with a touch of Bavarian hops. Starts with good fullness and finely dissolved carbonation along with light wheaty sweetness, some clove spice and bready yeastiness before a slightly more bitter crisp finish. A pretty good hefeweizen. elihapa (1554) - Honolulu, Hawaii, USA - FEB 17, 2010
Pours gold with a small head. Nose has a strong banana element, mixed in with a touch of plastic. Flavor is vanilla and banana, with mineral aromatics and straw/bread. The dominant flavor is banana and grainy bread, not bad at all. Mouthfeel is refreshing. User29624 (1683) - - FEB 15, 2010
Part of a sampler in San Diego. Pours hazy gold with a white head. Aroma of banana, citrus, and cloves. Similar flavor, a light beer. Decent overall. ben4321 (6668) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JAN 12, 2010
Location: On tap at the The Fish Market in San Diego, 1/5/10
Aroma: Banana, clove, wheat, orange
Appearance: Hazy yellow color
Flavor: German wheat flavor, with banana and spice
Palate: Light-medium, crisp, refreshing
My first (of 4 from last week) Karl Strauss rating. It was a solid beer, nice outdoor refresher, and that works well in a locale where you can pretty much always sit outside and drink. Fairly typical German style hefe, nice flavors, but nothing super exciting.
