On tap at the brewery. Pours a cloudy yellow orange with creamy white head that lasts. The aroma is wheat and floral. Medium body, citrus, wheat, clove, dry finish, good. jarspag (601) - San Francisco, California, USA - AUG 9, 2007
Ya ya ya. On tap. It’s a citrus-lemon-spicy-orangey-cloudy type wheat beer. Light and for the sunshine only. You know what they taste like... right? can8ianben (1545) - State College, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 24, 2007
UPDATED: MAR 20, 2009 Served far too cold and with a huge lemon wedge at California Pizza Kitchen. However after warming slightly I could tell this was a solid offering. Very cloudy yellow. Not transparent at all - almost like an orange smoothy in appearance. A big frothy white head and maybe a little too much carbonation. Perfect balance of sweet/sour citrus notes blended with the classic banana and clove aroma and flavor. Somewhat dry and bitter in the finish, but a delicious beverage none the less.
Rerate: Just had this a second time at Islands Burgers without realizing that I’d already had it. Again served too cold, VERY high carbonation. Some weird off flavors - almost in a cheap homebrew malt kind of way. Going to knock it down a bit. kp (10882) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - SEP 1, 2007

My first (of 4 from last week) Karl Strauss rating. It was a solid beer, nice outdoor refresher, and that works well in a locale where you can pretty much always sit outside and drink. Fairly typical German style hefe, nice flavors, but nothing super exciting.
SD trip, Karl Strauss LaJolla, sampler, had these while having a larger DIPA, flavors and ratings may be rough: Hazy unfiltered wheat with banana notes and good bavarian style. Very drinkable. papajohn (1250) - San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA - OCT 8, 2010
Taster from the tap in Sorrento valley: Pale cloudy yellow with a small eggshell white head. Aroma is banana and hints of spice. Flavor is banana up front with hints of wheat and clove. Light body is thin with moderate carbonation. GT (10000) - San Diego, California, USA - JUL 12, 2013
Tap at Steam Haus Gastropub in Corona, CA. KS. Hazy gold pour, glowing, with minimal foam. Nice estery nose, more yellow apple than expected and certainly more hefeweizen than American wheat. Taste is chalky and vegetal... overripe with diacetyl. As it warms, it gains some lemon acid, yellow apple cider character. It’s certainly drinkable, just has a few off flavors.
