The beer looks amazing. It looks just like this type should. The color of the beer is a dark brown, almost black. With a strong light, a nice ruby red glow can be seen. The beer seems a bit cloudy, but it’s so dark that dis is hard to tell. The beer pours a nice layer of foam. The beer pours a nice layer of soft, light brown foam. The bulk of the foam collapses, to leave a nice soft drape of foam. The smell is nice. There is a good bitterness, that mainly contains roasty bitterness from roasted barley. There is also a strong aroma of licorice. It is a bit to strong for my taste and seems a bit out of balance. The smell also has a sweetness of the malts, besides the bitterness. The taste of the beer nice to. There is again the nice bitterness and sweetness. The licorice flavor is even stronger in the taste. It’s a bit out of balance. A shame, because this type of beer is so lovely.

Kampfar (271) - Osnabrück, GERMANY - AUG 10, 2016
From 0.5 L bottle. Pours clear, dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma: slightly dark bread, a bit harsh and odd in hoppyness, light grassy. Taste: slightly bitter, bready, slightly caramel. Medium bitter, quite long finish. Medium carbonation, light to medium body normal texture. Quite OK for a dark pilsener style beer.

Excellent and few simple ingredients make this the best dark lager ever. Dark and caramalized taste with a very good balance of maltiness and hops. Definitely recommended for beer connoisseurs. The aroma is very appealing as is the very dark appearance. The taste balances off any strong or light meal. The plate is great from the first sip to the last drop swallowed. The overall feeling is that this is a must beer for anyone serious about trying a great dark lager.

Karlovačko crno contains very good basic ingredients with a dark color, malty caramalized taste. The beer has a great balance maltiness and bitterness expected from a dark lager. The alcohol does not strike the head as other beers and a real beer connoiseur is able to enjoy this beer, especially those who prefer dark lagers.

0,5 l from can. Poured dark reddish brown with two finger light tannish head. Aroma: sugared candy, roasted malts, vanilla. Taste: loads of sugar, caramel, vanilla, roasted malts, chocolate. Light body with a sweet malty finish. Nothing complex here, bit of a sugar overdose. Drinkable.

nephirem (561) - CROATIA - MAY 12, 2016
Pours a dark ruby, almost black colour with medium, slightly off-white head. Lager smell with a hint of caramel. Thin body with high carbonation and watery texture. Slightly bittersweet. Aroma is pretty weak. Really nothing to it, plain lager with very weak licorice and smoke notes. Feels very artificial and not really tasty. Very disappointed with this one.
