[email protected] pub, Saarbrücken. So with laiti in bed due to not feeling well, I decided to head for some food, and on the way back to the hotel I decided to pop into one of the Karlsberg places. This one was full with suspicious drunks, whom later became quite chatty for a foreigner who had the guts to enter "their" bar. The drunks were kinda amazed someone would travel and even drink different beers, when the ur-pils by Karlsberg is so good. Anyhow paying a round got everybody happy, and in return during their rounds I got a different beer every time.

Deep golden colour, small white head. Aroma is bready, alcoholic, some toffeeish notes with mild sweet maltiness to it. Flavour is wood, herbs, some sweet malts, mild grains and slight metallic notes to it.

Malziger, schnell dunkler werdender Antrunk. 11/9/8/8/7/8

(33cl bottle, traded with Saarlander) Clear, dark amber colour with a small foamy tanned head. Shy aroma: slightly sweet and dusty toasty malt with caramel. Moderately sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Strong dark malty taste, toasted with caramel and light fruity notes (dried fruits); medium-dry, malty and minimal-bitter finish.

Rating from 2008: Sehr süßlich-scharf, etwas herb im Abgang, leicht muffig, aber doch sehr angenehm zu trinken. --> 12,10,11,10,12,10 - 10,45

33cl bottle into a Chimay chalice at home on 30th Oct 2015. Red hue to the teak coloured body, the head a swiftly fading thin, beige covering. Not a lot of aroma, some malty notes just about detectable. The taste has a sweet malty feel to the flavour, having said it’s a sweet malty feel it also has a dry undertone within it’s character. Nowhere near the best Bock I have had, but not the worst either.

Bottle from trade with beerhunter111 - many thanks! The beer pours out in a deep dark brown colour with low head and medium to smooth body. Aroma of rum raisins and malt. Taste of raisins, malt, honey, rum, mild hops, woods and apples. Very nice to drink, expected it worse and not that quaffable.
