Bottled. Copper colored with rich off-white head. Boatloads of almonds in aroma. Oily, slick mouthfeel with almonds in maltiness leaning towards glue in flavour. Not much room here for maltiness. No delicate features at all, just plain glue and almond. Fairly sweet with all other features (mouthfeel, body etc) pretty okay. As for maltiness, there is a hint of it. Pretty solid beer but too one-dimensional.

hackobock (4007) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - DEC 23, 2016
December 23, 2016. Bottle, marked 14.02.15.
Light hazy amber with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma is sweet malty and light fruity with caramel, dark sugars and raisins. Taste is sweet, malty, fruity and very light bitter. Medium bodied, soft small bubble carbonation. Finish is sweet, slightly oxidized, very light bitter and warming with caramel, prunes, dates, dark sugars, dark bread.

(bottle) Almost clear, ruby brown colour with a short and tanned foamy head. Deep toast-malty aroma with loads of caramel/Blockmalz, chocolate, a nutty touch, as well as herbal hoppy accents. Moderately sweet flavour with a rounded level of bitterness, medium to full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Toasty malt character with notes of caramel, chocolate, nuts and subtle vinous accents; rounded sweet-bitter finish with a well-embedded alcoholic strength. Very good. 17.VI.15

(bottle) clear deep amber colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of grainy roasted malts and caramel, slightly oxidized, with lots of walnuts, some honey and dandelions. flavour is rather sweet, with lots of bran flakes, caramel, some raisins and more roasted malts. heavy-bodied with average carbonation.

elbernays (1475) - Dublin, IRELAND - AUG 22, 2015
Bottle from McHughs. Pours chestnut brown. Caramel, molasses, toffee, alcohol. Flavour follows nose with a Brandy finish. Dry dough cereal finish. Not mad on this.

500ml bottle. This is a pretty standard doppelbock, strong in the alcohol department but not an imposing beer, easier to drink for its gravity.

3.6
pivnizub (10566) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - JUN 17, 2015
Bouteille: Reddish-amber coloured, a bit unclear, small and stable firm off-white head; complex nutty-caramelly nose, distinctive traces of port-wine plus some hoppy spots; solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium to full bodied, pretty soft; lingering and well balanced nutty-caramelly finish, balanced by a fine hoppy-bitter counterpart in the aftertaste. Devilishly drinkable Doppelbock…

Lemke10 (980) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 17, 2015
This pours a dark amber color with a thick, carbonated head. The aroma is very malty and yeasty. The taste is full, yeasty, with lots of bready tones. Quite boozy and filling for a doppelbock. A rather interesting find.

Many thanks for this bottle to Erzengel. Pours hazy brown with beige head. The aroma has booze and brown sugar. The taste has big dark fruit, big sugar. Not bad

App....dark brown, slightly opaque. Creamy white head. Faded. Slight maroon hue. Aroma...caramel bread. Some spice. Taste... touch sour, raisin, cinnamon, malt, malt again, red wine. Feel...Touch flat, plenty of flavor though and easy drinking. On tap at the ginger man, nyc. Tap to snifter.
