Bottle in my hotel room, Anchorage, AK. Pours hazy amber with a medium, frothy off-white head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is herbal, earthy and fruity hops, light meal malt and apple esters. Flavor is moderate fruity and floral hops and bitterness, cereal and meal malt with apple esters and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle in Seattle, picked up by my brother in AK. Dark clear brown, caramel. Fruity malt aroma, some soft pine. Creamy smooth caramel and amber malt. Solid, but low hop balance.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is medium to dark amber. Aroma is lightly malty (caramel, grain), lightly hoppy (apricot), with notes of butter, wort, taffy, plastic, vegetables. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation. Quite poor...lots of off notes (not fully fermented, diacetyl, etc.) and overly sweet and syrupy. Nice apperance but that’s about it.

9 July 2015, tap. Amber, clear, steady bubbles. Nose is cotton candy and pink grapefruit citrus. Ned body and mildly fizzy. A little toasty malt , pink grapefruit, caramel malt. Ok.

Aroma: floral hops, some grass, some pine. Appearance: clear gold, creamy, white head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: bitters intensify, grass, pine and floral hops again, turns bitter. Overall: nice IPA, quite on the floral / grassy side. Bottle from gas station, Girdwood.

on tap @ Prospector’s / Denai Nat’l Park AK --- Clear bright copper color, solid white head cover, thick bands of lace. Taste is caramel malt that grows through the swallow to a finish that has enough hops to balance, but hardly enough to qualify to be called an IPA. Actually, a solid brew, but of questionable heritage.

mcberko (18390) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 17, 2014
22 oz. bottle, pours a hazy orange amber with a small white head. Aroma is over-malted, with residual sugars, caramel malts and some resin. Flavour is muted, with earthy notes, dirty yeasty notes, and a little hops. I wonder what the hell they were going for here. Very mixed up and jumbled. Not a disaster, but not good.

Bottle from Haggen’s Grocery, Woodinville
Hazy amber color. Caramel aroma and flavor, rather dry, with earthy and tired hops. Is this old? Not good.

I had this more than enough times to say something, well here goes. This has always been poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a decent hazy orange to brown color with a delicate half fingered white foamy head that did leave some stringy lacing here and there. The smell had some sweet English malts in front of the hops and honestly, the hops seemed extremely faded and somewhat dead. The taste was mainly sweet but it did show some delicate bitterness here and there. On the palate, it sat about a medium on the body with a decent sessionable quality about it. The carbonation seemed good for the style and for me. Overall, not a bad English IPA, but not a stellar one.

ten80 (7) - Alaska, USA - MAY 21, 2014 does not count
Slightly sweet, malt-dominated English_style IPA. Not enough malt complexity to justify lack of bittering and aroma.
