"Kastaar is an authentic beer, balancing on a harmony of taste and colour, between pale and dark, between sweet and bitter and spirited, subtile and complex. The ideal refreshment because of his lower alcohol content and his fruity taste and flavour. A real K-Star from our scale, a strong fellow (meaning of Kastaar)full of allurement and very charming, with his specific Kastaarglass it has brought us a lot of pleasure during serveral decennia.

Technical description : Alcohol : 5,5 vol.%, Degrees Plato : 13 PL°

One of those old-fashioned remnants of Belgian brewing history, according to a recipe dating from 1887, when beers were not as ambitious as they are now - hence the ’daily’ and simple character of this one. Nice session beer nonetheless, golden blonde with a creamy head and spicy hoppy finish. I’d prefer this over a standard lager any day.

A gift from a colleague living in the brewery’s street. Like a pils but with hoppy notes and a sour finish. Nice aperitf or "everyday" beer

Thx! 33 cl. bottle sampled @ Bierkaffee ’t Middelpunt in Zolder. Hazy golden with a white head. Nose is sweet fruity but like apple juice, applesauce, Turkish candy, syrup, white sugar, syrup, very sweet. Taste doesn’t add entirely up either, apple juice & commercial applesauce, some chemicals, huge white sugar, syrup, overly sweet BE yeast,… Body too much yeast, oddly oily. This one of those dull BE blonds that veers too much into unpleasant flavours probably in an attempt to cut corners & please everyone. It is manageable still & drinkable for certain.

Bottle at home, 330 ml. Poured into a tulip glass. ABV 5.5% Nice golden orange colour, clear body with good activity in it, and a huge white head on top. Good retention, thick lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet malts, yeast. Also a very refreshing aroma of floral hops, quite nice! Taste doesn’t follow up but it is still pretty good. Light fruity, yeast, sugar, a bit spicy on the finish. Medium thin body with high carbonation. Very dry on the palate. Overall a nice beer, a shame that the taste is not on the high standards of the aroma.

Bouteille 33cl, BB 29/10/2015.

yellow, a bit cloudy, longlasting head, very sour aroma, taste is rather flat (maybe a bad bottle) not very nice.

33cl bottle at home. APPEARANCE: clear blond beer, white stable head. NOSE: hops, grains, little citrus. TASTE: hops, very easy drinking, probably tasted a lot better because it was 30°C outside! Very pleasant

sfhodense (4788) - Odense NØ, DENMARK - APR 28, 2013
Pours cloudy yellow with a white head. Aroma is malt, apple notes and fruity yeast. Flavour follows the nose.
