"Kastaar is an authentic beer, balancing on a harmony of taste and colour, between pale and dark, between sweet and bitter and spirited, subtile and complex. The ideal refreshment because of his lower alcohol content and his fruity taste and flavour. A real K-Star from our scale, a strong fellow (meaning of Kastaar)full of allurement and very charming, with his specific Kastaarglass it has brought us a lot of pleasure during serveral decennia.

5/II/2012 33cl bottle late 80s vintage @ vintage tasting Brugs Bierfestival - BB: n/a (2012-1224) Thanks to JimRittchart for the sample!

Note: from lost notes earlier this year, found again!
Clear dark orange beer, pretty big aery big bubbled off-white to beige head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: dry, cardboard, dusty, maybe a little spicy, definitely off. Taste: about the same as the smell. The beer has died over this time. If I ever come across a fresh one, I’ll rerate it.

F: big, snow-white, poor to average retention. C: deep gold, hazy. A: malt, orange, herbal, fruity, yeast, apple. T: malt, orange peels, fruity, peach, a bit spicy, light soapy, yeasty, white sugar, medium body, medium carbonation, nothing special but drinkable and not bad, 33cl bottle from Carrefour market – St. Michel @ Etterbeek, Brussels.

33 cl bottle @ home. Pale yellow colour with an orange shine, and a lasting white head. Sweet and yeasty aroma, full of carbonation. Taste is bitter with some sourness, and the palate is a bit watery.

Bottle of 33cl, in a Trappist glass; from the fridge. Usual pils, with nice taste and aroma. Nothing more to say

Bottle. Pours clear blonde, Ok to small whtie head. Smell is sweet, malty but also got some different characters I don’t really recognize. Taste is intense, yet elegant yeastyness with fruity aspects ( not overripe fruit ) a fine fruity hoparoma as well that pairs nothing less than perfectly with the rather aromatic yeast. Light level of bitterness, yet the bitterness is there. Lovely in balance. Even though tripels will never be my favorite beerstyle, this one deffinately is worthy of being called very good !

ForlornHope (521) - Hampshire, ENGLAND - MAY 21, 2015
Bottle at home. Pours a deep golden colour with a white head that soon disappears. Very slight aroma of orangey hop. Taste is sweet to start, then slightly bitter. Slight citrus taste, thin finish. OK at best.

Poured light amber with a frothy off white head. Aroma of sweet fruit and light Belgian yeast. Light body, flavour is medium sweet, medium bitter.

Icedwarf (1657) - Etten-Leur, NETHERLANDS - MAR 29, 2015

One of those old-fashioned remnants of Belgian brewing history, according to a recipe dating from 1887, when beers were not as ambitious as they are now - hence the ’daily’ and simple character of this one. Nice session beer nonetheless, golden blonde with a creamy head and spicy hoppy finish. I’d prefer this over a standard lager any day.

Heel mooie beschrijving bij dit bier, maar ik vond het een bier met nogal weinig smaak aan
