Kasteel Winter is a unique departure from the standard Christmas ales known for their potpourri of cinnamon and clove. In fact, it stands alone as one of the most decadent and elegant Quadruples of Belgium in its own right. This 11% ABV beer pours a Chestnut brown with an off-white head. The nose is rich, with a warming scent of Coffee, Toffee, and Dried Fruits. The mouthfeel is rich and sweet like that of melted candy. The key ingredients to this delicacy is Belgian Chocolate and Coffee...noteworthy phrases in any brewers handbook. All of these elements come together to provide an after taste reminiscent of a tootsie roll.

Bottle as Kasteel Chocolate Quad. Rather sweet milk chocolate, this is a sweet sticky brew that you could safely avoid.

Bottle... Pours hazy and dark brown with a small, creamy, cappuccino-colored head. The aroma is a wonderful mélange of intense, rich mocha, moderately roasted malts, dark candy sugar, vanilla and light notes of dark, sticky, dried fruits – dates mostly, maybe some fig. Medium to full-bodied with busy carbonation. The flavor doesn’t quite deliver on the promises of the nose, but it’s tasty nonetheless. Lightly sweet, mildly roasty and far more balanced than many Belgian and Belgian-style quads. I’m digging this. I took a chance and am very pleasantly surprised.

Roasted malt aroma. Some burnt bread, some caramel. Some licorice. Interesting flavour.

A bottle from Jason's in Muzha. Aroma: sweet, undefinably chocolately. Appearance: cola, 1mm. tan lacing. Palate: medium-bodied and creamy, soft carbonation, long, sweet finish. Taste: heavily sweet, chocolate. I like chocolate, but not in my beer. Yuk.

A: Dark brown-black with a small tan head. N: You can smell the chocolate from miles away. Sweet milk chocolate and faint hints of coffee. T: Sweet milk chocolate on the palate as well. Also quite fruity. P: Full O: Nice-tasting beer, but the overwhelming chocolate does make it a bit one-dimensional.

Keg at Delirium. It pours darkest brown - black with a decent beige head. The aroma is earthy, toasty, coffee grounds, chocolate powder, coffee cake and gateaux. The taste is rich roasted malt, bitter - sweet, earthy, boosty, earthy roast, coffee, coffee cake, milk chocolate, candy, bit of spice, charred wood and leather with a drying and toasty finish. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. Perfectly enjoyable. Coffee meets Belgian strong. Not bad at all.

Очень хороший квад. Как я люблю: меньше карамели - больше чернослива. Плюс, конечно, шоколад.

Tomada en Cervecera Kraken de botella de botella. Cacao y cafe en una cerveza de Kasteel es garantia de maravilla. Me encanta.

Bottle in Budapest. Gorgeous dark brown cream with a foam like a rootbeer float. Subsiding slow. Scent is quite loud cocoa. Ethanol a bit and whiskey cask. Smooth, creamy finish. Crisp and a bit of apple notes. A bit of cloves. Very great.

Tap @ Delirium Cafe, Akasaka. Pours dark brown with some beige foam on top. Aroma has lots of caramel, toffee, light coffee and a touch of extra sweetness. Taste reveals relatively sweet body - but drinks light, also light tartness, coffee bitterness is very obvious, chocolate, toffee and caramel characteristics blending with light booze. Pleasant sipper, great balance - drinks way easier than it should.
