A strong Belgian brown ale.
After extensive tasting, trying to fulfil increasingly strict requirements, the brewmaster obtains a creamy, dark Belgian brown ale: Kasteelbier. The quality of the past is still unmatched and the beloved taste is very much of the present. Kasteelbier is a dark, artisanal beer, soft and mild, full and creamy. It can age for many, many years, as indicated on the bottle. 11% abv, serve at 12°C (54°F) (Translation by Martinus)

Very sweet, rich roasted and malty. Sugar is noticeable in flavour, full bodied enough to balance, not overly complex but satisfying and smooth. Alcohol is well hidden.

Enjoyed: Poured from a bottle into trappist glass. Appearance: Brown colour, medium but short-lived head, remains only cappuccino-like foam that springs from the centre. Aroma: Yeast, malt, chocolate. Palate: Medium body, moderate pepsi-like carbonation. Taste: Sweet, roasted alcoholic sugar, malt, dried dark fruits, bitter dark chocolate aftertaste. Overall impression: Quite ok; drinkable considering amount of alcohol; tasty but I expected more; maybe too sweet.

Pours nicely dark with creamy/white head. This is definitely a sipping beer. A lovely sweet slightly fruity taste, and as some have already mentioned some bitter aftertaste. One to return to for me.

Bottle - dark brown with thick creamy head. Decent aroma. Ting in mouth. Strong creamy and alcoholic tasting - full 11%. Definitely a beer to sip. Overall ok beer, just not my type.

malibrat (261) - Pula, CROATIA - FEB 13, 2018
UPDATED: FEB 13, 2018 Pivo u flaši. Fina slatkasta aroma , slad i grožđice.

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2018 Very dark mahognyalmost black, with a thin beige head. Clear. Aroma heavy, with lots of raisins balanced with the yeastiness. Taste more dried fruit (dates, figs) and a lot of caramel. Sweet, a bit too sweet at the start but there is a lingering bitterness that adds on and takes over at the end. Very good!

Quick3Beers (1608) - East Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 30, 2017
Pours a rich brown from a bottle, thick off-white head dissipates leaving some lacing. Big sweet caramel malt aroma, followed by a sweet brown sugar, light vanilla flavor. Very sweet, as others have mentioned. Not sure cellaring would diminish the sweetness, but would likely introduce new flavor elements to make it more interesting. Good beer.

Bottle (750ml). Nice looking dark brown pour with a tan head. Not too boozy but was too sweet for my tastes. Wish I had aged this one for awhile.

panda_brewmaster (263) - Bournemouth, Dorset, ENGLAND - DEC 18, 2017
UPDATED: JAN 7, 2018 Aromas od yeast, overripe banana and some alcohol. Taste is malty, caramelized sugar, overripe cherries. After is quite sweet overpowering the bitter. A bit too sweet for me.
