Bottle at iron abbey. Medium brown pour. Funky, lightly cherry aroma. Fruity, cherry, very oily, sticky. Minimal carbonation, no lacing. Nice sour finish. Not lindeman’s but good.
(On tap at Belgian Beer Cafe / Bon Vivant in Riga)
Nice red-purple colour with brick red//brown on the rim.
The nose is dominated by deep, rather dark cherry notes.
In the mouth it is quite rich, with medium to low carbonation. It feels vinous and has medium viscosity. There’s a nice balance between fruity, fresh cherries, cherry pit bitterness and a darker malt sweetness and richness. Quite well balanced. In the exit there are some spicy hints of liquorice, some brett and cherry liqueur. Jultsu (979) - TAMPERE, FINLAND - JUL 21, 2017
BBE 04-2019. Tummanpunainen väri, iso tuuhea tiskivetivaahto. Tuuhea tumma makeahko aromi. Suutuntuma kuohuva, laimean kirsikkainen, kolamainen, nopea, kirsikka jää makeana kuivuutena, ei oikein anna mitään enempää kuin kirsikka. Quick3Beers (1234) - East Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA - JUL 18, 2017
Pours a deep garnet with light purple head. Big cherry aroma like a liqueur or cordial, not quite cough syrupy or cough drop. Big sweet cherry flavor, almost viscous. Okay beer. Maits (479) - ESTONIA - JUL 14, 2017
Dark ruby beer with small thin pink head. Aroma is cherry, sour fruits. Taste is sweet cherry, malts and little sour feel. Medium body. Nice warming cherry tasting fruit beer. barrelagedluv (25) - Pittsburg, California, USA - JUN 25, 2017
Poured into a tulip glass, a tap soda foam levels quickly revealing a deep ruby color. With no visible bubbles, this rouge ale sits like blood solid in the glass. The scent is that of a good old school black cherry soda. A bold thirst quenching juiciness explodes on the taste buds, with a heavy liquor feel. Hints of Spanish brandy and fresh cherry pie. The finish is not as rich as the taste though; I feel this Belgian could’ve considerably benefited from barrel aging, so the
sugar content is contrasted by oakiness. An excellent Belgian, I’m surprised by the lukewarm ratings on this one. Cheers Castle VH!

I drunk better kriek than this. This so sour, but not the good way. I will not buy it anymore. Zilverenmaan (197) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - JUN 21, 2017
7-3-7-3-13. Nothing wrong with it: looks ok, smell and taste of sweet cherries natural, carbonation ok. Uncompromising sweet cherriebeer Towey1989 (2829) - Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 20, 2017
Bottle at Beerdock Leek. Pours a deep ruby colour with a thin pink head. Aroma of black cherry, kirsch, slight red fruits and subtle sourness. Taste of black cherry, kirsch, some syrup, slight dark malts, a hint of sourness and subtle oak/wood. Medium bodied and a sticky texture. A sweet, sticky cherry finish. Lovely and sweet, cherry liquor aroma. Taste is still cherry liquor but more woody and less sour, quite sticky. It’s nice but expecting more from how it began. dimeon (313) - Johannesburg, SOUTH AFRICA - JUN 16, 2017
