COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kasteel Rouge is a blend of Kasteel Donker and cherry liquor. The mix of these two excellent products creates an exceptional soft beer with references to the dark mother beer.

Bar-none, probably the best smelling beer I’ve ever experienced, smelled and looked like melted Ludens Cough Drops. Though, that did not make for an especially pleasant beer -- seemed artificial.

Good Gawd! Fresh cherry aroma right off the bat. Pours a cloudy brown in the glass. Nice cherry pie flavor with a hint of toasty malt at the end. Overall... Why did i wait so long to try this?

Bue en bouteille de 33cl. Nez cerise (évidemment). Palais malté, sucré, fruits rouges. Corpulence moyenne, arôme un peu chimique de la cerise. Bof

Bottle from saveur. Nose is cherry, boozy, wood. Palate is cherry and bitter backbone. Boozy finish. Very boozy fruitbeer. Good, but too much for me.

UPDATED: NOV 6, 2016 I’ve passed this by for years on the shelf never realizing it contained my beloved (and impossible to find in NH thanks to distribution) Donker. After reading the description I was sold. Strangely, the fact that I love this has nothing to do with why I picked it up. I cannot discern more than the slightest background of malt and ripe fruits that makes Donker the bomb. However, this thing is the tastiest fruit beer I’ve yet encountered. I do love cherries so, and this has them to the brim. Nose is so cherry my mouth waters. Flavor is nearly as cherry-full, somewhat subdued by the aforementioned actual beer.

Appearance is very dark, ruby red, some bubbles rising, a fizzy light brown head which dissipates quickly. Aroma- cherry, cherry and more cherry. Marzipan, Bakewell tart, hint of caramel malt, dark fruit, fruitcake, more cherries. Taste- tart fruit, sweet sugary stewed fruits, cherry cake, baked apple, rhubarb crumble, treacly caramel, sweet malt, sweet sticky finish. On the sweet side, but good.

Bottle. Dark burgundy color with an off-white to pink lace ring. Aroma and taste of cherries. A little tartness on the tongue. You cannot sense the abv. The cherry liquor pretty much covers up the base ale - Kastel Donker. As a cherry ale it is pretty good.

Pours hazy dark red with a quickly disappearing reddish head. The aroma contains cherry, malts, caramel and marzipan. It tastes light to medium sour and light sweet. Short and tarty finish. The alcohol is very well hidden. Medium body, a bit watery in texture, fizzy carbonation. Not very complex.
