Pours a muddy dark brown with a one-finger tan head. Marshmallow, circus peanut, custard, and Belgian yeast spice on the nose. Flavors are the same. Some chocolate after the finish. Nothing extraordinary.

nice aroma of sweet chocolate, whiskey. The taste is a little bit too sweet, caramel and chocolate. Long and sweet finish of caramel. Alcohol is pretty good covered by cacao taste.

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2018 Pivo u flaši. Kod nas se ovo pivo zove 'Kasteel Barista Chocolate Quad'. Tamna boja. Miris čokolada i kava. Okus, čokolada i kava.

Not so sure what the deal is on the name, my bottle says Barista Chocolate Quad. At least the 11% matches up. The 750 ml bottle was brought to me from Houston by my son. I consider Kasteel's Donker to be execellent so I have been looking forward to this sampling. It delivers in my globe tasting glass a dark, almost black, liquid showing some red around the edges. Poured too heavy, it leaves a tall, light tan head, my bad but no complaints. I take a whiff, the chocolate shows up strong but there is also an alcohol edge to the smell. A sip now, hmm, a bit different from my expectation. Truly it has that Belgian ale influence, not so much a quadrupel taste. Tootsie roll chocolate, a berry presence perhaps blackberry, caramel, some grain. There is a nice burn as it goes down. Happy to try, still think Donker is better.

Tasted 2018-01-07. As Barista Chocolate Quad. Pours clear, dark red/brown with beige head. Aroma of caramel, coffee, vanilla and a little whiff of detergent. Creamy texture. Taste is chocolate, coffee, alcohol. Slightly burning taste. Finishes with a coffee bitternes. The aroma improves, as the head fades away. It's a powerful beer. Tastes good, but it will probably improve with cellaring.
