Kasteel Winter is a unique departure from the standard Christmas ales known for their potpourri of cinnamon and clove. In fact, it stands alone as one of the most decadent and elegant Quadruples of Belgium in its own right. This 11% ABV beer pours a Chestnut brown with an off-white head. The nose is rich, with a warming scent of Coffee, Toffee, and Dried Fruits. The mouthfeel is rich and sweet like that of melted candy. The key ingredients to this delicacy is Belgian Chocolate and Coffee...noteworthy phrases in any brewers handbook. All of these elements come together to provide an after taste reminiscent of a tootsie roll.

Draft taproom. Clear brown. Holy chocolate aroma - hazelnut chocolate biscotti aroma. Flavor is similar but not insanely sweet like the aroma. Breads, chocolate, tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Draft (as Kasteel Barista Chocolate Quad). Aromas of cocoa, peanut butter, plums, clay. Clear bronze with a mostly fading white head. A little cloying, savory, very nutty, weird. Medium-full bodied.

Tap. Pours dark brown. Aroma is cold brew coffee, plums, dates, bready and cookie malts, Belgian yeast esters, and soft booze. Flavor is big and malty with a lot of dark fruit, booze, yeast esters, chocolate, and coffee. Medium/full body.

I was rather let down by this beer. I thought it would be a nice aromatic balanced beer but I’m afraid it tastes more like chocolate milk. I prefer chocolate milk.

Dark brown with huge dense brown head. Aroma sweet and intense chocolate notes, where´s the coffee? Taste long and intense chocolate taste. A great beer if you´re into chocolate otherwise don´t try it but lacks complexity and other flavours compared to other quads. I´ll finish with quoting one of my friends comments about Wells banana beer sligtly changed to fit this beer "If I want a piece of chocolate then I buy a piece of chocolate ..not a beer."

Pint night at Pazzo’s. From a bottle. Aroma is huge chocolate malt with coffee. Taste is sweet. Definitely decadent.

Bottle at home. Pours dark brown, with ruby accents. Medium foam which goes away too fast. Dark coffee, toffee, dark, roasted malts and vanilla. The alcohol is present, but the mouthfeel is pleasent, smooth, quite thin. Good carbonation, not over the top. Very good.

Pours a dark brown much like a porter with a medium laced cream head. Big outstanding aromas of chocolate, toffee, caramel and vanilla. Undertones of dark cherry, wood, and just a tinge of alcohol. Flavors of dark cherry, coffee, light alcohol, wood, slightly nutty, with a aftertaste of tootsie roll! (?).I want to give this a 9 flavor but the alcohol takes some of the dominant flavors. Would likely be better with 1 or 2 % abv lower.

Kasteel barista choc quad TAP. Cola black with small tan head.. Fresh coffee bean & milk choc aroma.. Very rich thick body, almost syrup! Perfect blend of the coffee & chocolate, a bit of vanilla as well?.. Sourced yardhouse Honolulu
