Curious Quad, both full of tasty chocolate-covered dates and a big java backbone, yet maintaining enough Belgian yeastiness and dark fruit esters to keep the strong ale elements detectable. Sweet but not overly so, and the date-black cherry-fig backbone plays nicely with the more indulgent cocoa-mocha notes. Feel gives up none of the 11% ABV, and the nose is a decadent mix of chocolate and dried fruit. Tasty. GarrettB (1600) - San Diego, California, USA - JUN 10, 2017
December 24th, 2014 - Kasteel’s Winter ale is marked by its humble label, free from Christmas goblins and Santa butts. It’s a classy selection from the Christmas aisle, and looks the part too, dressed in a deep dark liquid, with a thin, velvety head. Mocha and espresso are the richest veins in the nose, and they’re peppered with a big of nutmeg. The specter of a scotch ale rears its transparent, with some sweetness, but just a whiff. The flavor is tangy and creamy, like the foam from a freshly poured espresso, but boozy. Espresso beans and the bitterness of dark chocolate work in tandem - mostly - and while the balance is a little rough around the edges, the extra carousing lets the beer hold up against my meal for the night: a rich au jus sandwich. Both the aroma and the taste are characterized by the same chocolate, toasted malts, delicate herbs, and vanilla. Full, thick, soft. Very long finish, can be felt even after a few minutes. Overall a very decent beer, too bad I had to drink it in a hurry.
Translucent mahogany with thin beige head. Full body with high carbonation.davidf93 (133) - Stellenbosch, SOUTH AFRICA - MAY 21, 2017

On tap as Kasteel Barista chcolate quad.. Dark brown minimal head on top. Yuge espresso coffee aroma. Gentle coffee flavor. Really easy going and light considering the abv. Somewhat one dimensional, but quite nice nevertheless. Myonlyvice (303) - DENMARK - MAY 14, 2017
Bottle as "Barista Chocolate." Dark brown with a big creamy off white head. Aroma: Really big aroma with Chocolate, vanilla, espresso, yeast, dried fruits and caramel. Taste. Sweet with a bit of sourness, sligt loasty bitterness and a long finish of dark chocolate and coffee. AirForceHops (7240) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - MAY 7, 2017
Bottle label as "Barista Chocolate Quad" . Dark ruby/ brownish color. Aroma is chocolate candy, coffee, and slight dark fruit note. Flavor is heavy on chocolate, mild yeast, solid in the coffee nuances. The booze is pretty well hidden and it drinks much, much lighter than the ABV level.Skarecrow (749) - North Shore, Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 6, 2017
Overall, it is a nice adjuncted Belgian Strong Ale. I enjoy the mouthfeel the most, creamy texture with a deep roasted finish.
Dark brown with tan head.
Chocolate aroma with notes of coffee, Christmas cake, and banana.
