Kasteel Winter is a unique departure from the standard Christmas ales known for their potpourri of cinnamon and clove. In fact, it stands alone as one of the most decadent and elegant Quadruples of Belgium in its own right. This 11% ABV beer pours a Chestnut brown with an off-white head. The nose is rich, with a warming scent of Coffee, Toffee, and Dried Fruits. The mouthfeel is rich and sweet like that of melted candy. The key ingredients to this delicacy is Belgian Chocolate and Coffee...noteworthy phrases in any brewers handbook. All of these elements come together to provide an after taste reminiscent of a tootsie roll.

0,33l bottle. (Barista Chocolate Quad version) Dark brown colour with lasting/lacing off-white head. Aroma: Caramel, chocolate, light roasted coffee beans with raisin, dry fruits, vanilla. Taste: Very sweet (marcipan/almond) start with lots of spicey (pumpkin/nutmeg/popcorn) tone with apleasent bitter mouthfeel. A little bit messy and unusual but not in a good way. Has a smooth texrure but the high alcohol is quite noticable. Full body with soft carbonation. Long sweet and spicey finish. Not bad at all but a bit strange with a lots of unusual taste. I dont know whats the difference between the the Barista and the Winter version.

Draft taproom. Clear brown. Holy chocolate aroma - hazelnut chocolate biscotti aroma. Flavor is similar but not insanely sweet like the aroma. Breads, chocolate, tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Draft (as Kasteel Barista Chocolate Quad). Aromas of cocoa, peanut butter, plums, clay. Clear bronze with a mostly fading white head. A little cloying, savory, very nutty, weird. Medium-full bodied.

I was rather let down by this beer. I thought it would be a nice aromatic balanced beer but Im afraid it tastes more like chocolate milk. I prefer chocolate milk.

Dark brown with huge dense brown head. Aroma sweet and intense chocolate notes, wheres the coffee? Taste long and intense chocolate taste. A great beer if youre into chocolate otherwise dont try it but lacks complexity and other flavours compared to other quads. Ill finish with quoting one of my friends comments about Wells banana beer sligtly changed to fit this beer "If I want a piece of chocolate then I buy a piece of chocolate ..not a beer."

Bottle at home. Pours dark brown, with ruby accents. Medium foam which goes away too fast. Dark coffee, toffee, dark, roasted malts and vanilla. The alcohol is present, but the mouthfeel is pleasent, smooth, quite thin. Good carbonation, not over the top. Very good.
