COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kasteel Winter is a unique departure from the standard Christmas ales known for their potpourri of cinnamon and clove. In fact, it stands alone as one of the most decadent and elegant Quadruples of Belgium in its own right. This 11% ABV beer pours a Chestnut brown with an off-white head. The nose is rich, with a warming scent of Coffee, Toffee, and Dried Fruits. The mouthfeel is rich and sweet like that of melted candy. The key ingredients to this delicacy is Belgian Chocolate and Coffee...noteworthy phrases in any brewers handbook. All of these elements come together to provide an after taste reminiscent of a tootsie roll.

On Tap Murky medium brown with a thin light tan head. Very strong sweet chocolate tootsie roll aromas. Slightly sour brown ale flavors but again more of the tootsie roll. Would not have guessed 11% A unfultered feel.

Bottle at home as "Barista Quad". Clear dark brown pour, with creme coloured head, lasting very well. Aroma is chocolate and iron. Taste medium sweet, choco and light bitter. OK carbo, full bodied, not too alcoholic for ABV11. I like heavy beers, but this is also a missed chance: very one track choco, and therefore not very special. Nice but could have been so much richer...

Aroma: High chocolate. Medium-high vanilla/cocoa. Medium wood, plum. Light pear Appearance: Clear, dark black body with red highlights. Medium, light-brown head, fine bubbles. Low retention. Flavour: Medium-high chocolate, Medium vanilla, cocoa, wood, fruity, apricot, roastiness. Medium bitterness. Medium-light pear. Dry finish with lingering chocolate and alcohol/peach Mouthfeel: Medium body, Medium-high carbonation. Overall: A chocolate beer (no chocolate listed as ingredients on the bottle). Une brune aux reflets rouges, mousse beige qui disparait assez vite. Arôme où l'on sent assez bien l'alcool, pétillante en bouche, goût chocolat et café, arrière goût chocolat qui perdure.

Pours a near black from a bottle with an off-white head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma is of chocolate primarily, with toffee, prunes and even dried apricot. Flavor is mostly the first and last of those things, some vanilla and coffee. I was just thinking tootsie roll then saw it in the description, that's pretty apt. Good beer.

This thing looks beautiful. A nice dark pour, with a beautiful little head on top. Smells of chocolate, and the taste is a strong, sweet chocolate. It's a bit too sweet, making it a bit hard to drink. Tastes pretty good, just wish it were slightly subtler.

On tap. Pours dark with thick beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, almond, cocoa. Taste is light bitter, slightly acidic notes, lot of chocolate on tongue. Heavy body, slick texture, soft carbonation, light coffee bittery finish.

as barista chocolate quad. clear dark brown, smooth small light brown head. Aroma is dominated by chocolate , not super dark chocolate, but not sweet chocolate either. say 50% pure chocolate or thereabouts, below the chocolate i sense some dried dark fruits. flavor is a fairly weird sour dark dried fruits with notes of chocolate, and a strong chocolate aftertaste. Palate is quite nice, but i can't get used to the sour chocolate flavor. so weird.
