Kasteel Winter is a unique departure from the standard Christmas ales known for their potpourri of cinnamon and clove. In fact, it stands alone as one of the most decadent and elegant Quadruples of Belgium in its own right. This 11% ABV beer pours a Chestnut brown with an off-white head. The nose is rich, with a warming scent of Coffee, Toffee, and Dried Fruits. The mouthfeel is rich and sweet like that of melted candy. The key ingredients to this delicacy is Belgian Chocolate and Coffee...noteworthy phrases in any brewers handbook. All of these elements come together to provide an after taste reminiscent of a tootsie roll.

0.33l bottle. Dark brown color with tanned head. Very rich aroma with fruits, malt, toffee, chocolate, caramel, dark fruits, cloves, spices and raisins. Taste is very complex as well, with fruity, caramel, spicy, chocolate, plum and clove notes. Medium sweetness and full. Overall it's excellent beer.

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2017 Bottle at home, as Kasteel Barista Chocolate Quad. Appearance - dark, with a reddish hue; small, creamish head. Aroma - mocha, chocolate and hints of vanilla. Palate - medium body, low carbonation, no bitterness, but rather sweet with some alcoholic bite. Taste - chocolate, more dark than milky, mocha, vanilla, parma violets, brown sugar and some raisin notes at the very end. Aftertaste - rather long, sweet, but not overwhelming, with more of the mocha notes. Overall - A great, quite sweet, but tasty beer. One of my favorite Belgian winter ales.

Kupljeno pod nazivom "Barista Chocolate Quad". Veoma tamna amber boja (više smeđa), zuta pjena srednje debljine. Aroma čokolade, kakaoa, kafe, vinjaka/konjaka i likera sa kafom i orasima.

Textura oleosa y algo chispeante. Aroma muy especiado. Me cuesta captar chocolate, sinceramente.

beer-yum (1955) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - SEP 8, 2017
UPDATED: SEP 9, 2017 Restrained aroma in a dark brown pour. Complex mix of coffee cocoa vanilla and dried fruit that totally disguises the underlying (non-trivial) strength. A winning winter warmer.

cervmagpt (934) - PORTUGAL - AUG 31, 2017
Review the Barista Chocolate Quad wich is a different beer from Kasteel Winter. Based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 30A/26D). Bottle 33 cl - Batch KABA1117A (BBF 11-2021). AROMA: medium-high chocolate notes, resembling dark chocolate cake. low nutty and toffee-like notes, followed by low alcohol with a peppery character. APPEARANCE: very dark reddish-ambar color and clear. medium-low beige head with medium retention. leg formation. TASTE: medium-high chocolate notes with a semi-sweet character that evolves into an almost dry finish. slight notes of dried grapes, toffee. medium-low bitterness. PALATE: medium body with medium-low carbonation. smooth alcohol warmth. OVERALL: a nice chocolate belgian dark strong ale where the base beer can be somewhat perceived.

Draft pint at Riverside Market South in Fort Lauderdale, FL 8/5/17 Very good!

stupre (538) - Nanterre, FRANCE - AUG 20, 2017
33cl bottle purchased @ Mille et une bières Cormontreuil. Le côté sucré la rend un peu écoeurante.
