Bottle. Dark brown with a hint of redness. Tan head. Deep aroma of brown sugar., winter fruit , bread , alcohol esters. Rich deep sweet taste like a Christmas cake heavily booze laden. Great example of the style. Very drinkable. ICEatALAMO (1352) - Troy, Michigan, USA - SEP 4, 2014
Bottle. The pour is dark an murky, like a dirty lake. The aroma is mainly belgium yeast, dark fruit notes. The taste is boozy, a good belgium quad.

Full of flavours. Gold medal! Appearance wwith the Cuvée glass is more than incredible. Moebbels (815) - FINLAND - AUG 29, 2014
A clear very dark red body with a quickly dissipating tan-coloured head. Nose has sweet aromas of citrus peels, coriander, raisins, caramel and sherry. Taste is sweet and fruity with a dry and bitter finish. Carbonation is on the high side and the mouthfeel is rich, heavy and filling. The alcohol is readily detectable as a nice warm feeling, but is not harsh on the palate. This is a nice, well-made beer for slow enjoyment.

Poured from a 2013 bomber into a snifter brown with a thin white head that dissipated fairly quickly.
Aroma is brown sugar banana.
Flavor is sweetly Belgium. Figgy bready Booze there more than subtly.
Balance of flavors and so well done. A way above average Belgium Strong Ale. cernjoh (183) - Ohio, USA - AUG 25, 2014
Poured into a sifter from a bottle dated 2013-10-3 so it is about a year old since bottling. Aroma of this beer is of banana and some dark fruits. Appearance is a clear dark burgundy with a one finger tan head that dissipated rapidly. Taste is of bananas, molasses, and dark fruits. Palate is smooth with good carbonation. Overall a great beer that you should try. If you had it prior and did not have a great experience I suggest you try again. Aging does not always make beers taste better and some reviews complained that aged bottles of this were not good. Well I can say at 1 year of age this beer is great. Cheers. Had a 4 year old bottled in 2010. Dumped the entire thing it was essentially a terrible version of champagne.

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2014 Special version of Kasteelbier Bruin, since 2009, intended to taste like a regular Kasteelbier at ten years old without effectively being old. Yellowish beige, creamy, relatively stable head, colour dark burgundy. Aroma of brown sugar, dried plums, cloves, pear syrup, bourbon, fresh thyme, sherry, sage, fondant, biscuit, gingerbread. Quite complex and rich malt taste, chocolatey, dried citrus peel, noticeable less cloying than the regular version and in that sense a lot better, finishing with herbal hoppiness and port- to bourbon-like, warming alcohol, as well as agreeable spicy notes. What a difference with the regular version and doubtlessly a beer with great aging potential - wonder what this will taste like if it will actually be ten years old.
