In the aroma coffee and cherry in chocolate. The taste is good for coffee and alcohol. Dry aftertaste with warming alcohol. loscovar (817) - Principality of SEALAND, - JUL 2, 2017
bottle. It looks like a kasteel donker for grown ups. The sweetness it’s taken away by the years, it’s more complex, more achieved. Wonderful colui72 (1157) - HONG KONG - JUL 1, 2017
Pours obsidian black, with a medium beige head, little lacing. Aroma of sweet malts, ripe fruits and molasses. Tastes sweet, rich and boozy. Very fruity, sweet malts and molasses, candy and floral notes. Beautiful. Full body, oily feel, soft carbonation, long finish. An excellent Belgian classic. umestre (83) - - JUN 17, 2017

Tap- good size foamy head, murky dark brown color (in a good way), pretty complex aroma and flavor with strong malt, dark fruits, booze, mildly spicy finish, very good overall

11.2-ounce bottle pours dark brown; nearly opaque. There’s a very small tan creamy head that quickly dissipates, leaving behind some lacing. Aroma: prunes, raisins, red grapes. Flavor: all of the above, just ramped up, with some molasses, figs, dates, and brown bread. Mouthfeel: full-bodied, rich. An excellent Belgian sipper. Draft - Vintage 2014 - Prune and raisin, with dark fruit. Jet black with a decent beige head. Dark prune and raisin with a nice long finish. Cristobal37 (1287) - Budapest, HUNGARY - MAY 20, 2017
On tap. Light brown. Sweet malty aroma. Not my favorite. Abrasive alcohol, sweet and slightly medicinal. These are one of the only kinds of belgian ales that I have a hard time getting into. Too brown sugar and alcohol forward for me. Oakes (19363) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 19, 2017
Dark brown. Doesn’t pour with much head. The aroma is plummy, raisiny, vinous...brown sugar and date molasses. Deep, fruity...so much dark fruit and sugar. Touch of alcohol in the finish, but smooth and well-balanced.
