An unequalled beer, at the top of the Kasteel spectrum. The aroma and flavour of Cuvée are those of a Kasteel Donker, that aged 10 years in the cellars of the castle, noble and strong.

A great beer that does indeed taste like aged Donker. Smooth and delicious, only thing lacking is the aroma. Maybe I can’t smell because I started smoking cigarettes again, but I’ve been getting metallic smells from lots of beers that taste amazing. This is one of those. Sugar and dark fruit upon tasting; blackberry and grape with a spicy, but easy finish. Thick slightly oily mouth-feel. Delicious, would definitely try it again.

As a gift from the missus, i didn’t know what to expect. Lots of caramel and dried banana on the nose; the alcohol coming in at the end. The palate reflects this with dried fruits shortly on the finish. The 11% hits hard.

Deep brown to amber body slight head fading quickly. Porto like smell, sweet, fig and date from amber syrup. Sweet lightly syrupy taste a light bitter finish. Does not feel like 11%!

Bottle, 0.33l. Cloudy deep brown color with quickly diminishing tan-like head and soft visible carbonation. Aroma of dried fruit, caramel, yeast and alcohol. Taste starts with moderate sweet caramel, mild roasted malt and dried fruit, following is alcoholic and yeasty, mouthfeel is warming, while finish is mild bitter. Full body, thick texture and lively carbonation in palate. Nice one, not even so strong than expected...

A bottle at the Cafe Bastille, near Tai Power Building. Aroma: prunes, fruit gums, very inviting! Appearance: just like cola, no head to speak of. Palate: full-bodied and sweet. A long, malty, sweet finish. Taste: very smooth, the alcohol is well-hidden. Unfortunately too sweet for me, once is enough.

75 cl. Room temperature. Hazy murky brown, small tanned head with slight lacings. Aroma is complex, sweet notes of brown sugar, pear, banana as well as cellar notes of sherry and spices. Taste is balanced sweet and bitter, dark bread, brown sugar, pears, defined hoppy bitter character without being exaggerated, cinnamon, clove and yeasty notes, slight oaky finish. Big body, medium carbo. Excellent.

Large Bottle - taste is strong and well balanced. Nothing dominates the palette, and it is neither sweet nor bitter, but shows its true colours slightly with a touch of alcohol on the tongue. Drunk at a pleasant comfortable pace, it goes down very easily. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
