4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Found this beer at the Belgian Beer Festival in Brussels. Pours a rich brown with a thin head. Tastes of caramel, raisins, breadfruit. Delicious - one of my favorite beers.
33cl bottle at home. Appearance: very deep mahogany with medium, off-white head. Aroma: nutmeg, clove, plums, caramel. Taste: pretty high sweetness and medium bitterness. Notes of clove, molasse, plums and coriander. Pretty boozy. Palate: medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A little too boozy, just like a lot of the other Kasteel beers. Bottle in Antwerp. Dark, sweet, strong. Rich, soft and harmonious beet the aging has taken of the edges. SinH4 (6258) - Garching b. Mnchen, GERMANY - NOV 11, 2017

I really like this beer and think it would be good in a few years but it is seriously so sweet at the moment. Nice flavours otherwise though with rich and intense dried prune notes, molasses, toffee, light cocoa notes. Beautiful Belgian flavours with a huge malt base, light bitterness, lingering flavour for 25 seconds. i think I'll age a bottle. Keukeman (171) - BEST, NETHERLANDS - OCT 27, 2017

Pours very dark amber (almost black) with an off white fine head. Nose is boozy with lots of dark fruits and a touch of caramel. Flavor is a growing burst of plums, raspberry, brown sugar, modest hops and lots of Belgian esters on a hot malt profile. Finish is a bit sticky. Very rich and strong dark Belgian, and quite good. On tap @ Kulminator. The 2014 version. Tall elegant beigeish head over a dark rusty brown body. Smells superb of yeast, dark sweetness, some red berries and a little alcohol in the back. Delicious. Rush of raisins in the tastes. Red berries, plum and some candied sugar. Sippable all the way. 10.10.2017 Jerre (3823) - Waregem, BELGIUM - OCT 6, 2017
