Draft. Scarlet-brown with great clarity and a dense khaki head. The aroma’s a smooth blend of smoked sausage, cocoa and caramel used sugar. The flavor is similar -- a mild blend of cola and smoky hot dogs. Light, watery body; mild carbonation and bitterness. Balanced finish. I enjoy the smokiness in this, but the beer itself is pretty insubstantial.

Syrup, earthy and flowers on the nose. Bright see thru brown color with thin white head. Roasty, brown sugar, some malts. Average brown. Poured from draft at Kauai Island Brewing tap room, part of a flight.

Nice malty aroma. Brown color as expected with white head. Chewy malty strong body, touch of roastiness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Fairly large off-white head; dark brown, but with touches of orange, gold and red. Aromas are pretty much all malt - nutty flavors, molasses, bread. The hops are quite subdued. Body is medium; alcohol average; carbonation is just a bit on the lively side. Finish is average duration, moderately sweet and light to moderate in bitterness. Overall not a bad brown ale, but not remarkable either.

Light brown, very smoky nose and taste...not even balanced, just a thin peaty malt character.

Translucent brown pour with a tan head. Aroma has chocolate and coffee notes. Flavor is lightly malty with some chocolate and coffee notes as well as some slightly spicy hop notes on the finish. Mouthfeel is a little thin similar to their porter, but smooth. Decent brown.

Nutty and smokey. Pours a clear brown. Tastes a little sweet, then bitter before the smoke dominates the palate. I wasn’t expecting such a balanced smoked beer, a great suprise.

Probably unduly harsh, as this is very much a mild and I made the mistake of sampling it after their tasty, robust porter. Could drink more than one but wouldn’t really want to.

Tap at the brewpub, 20/08/12. Copper-glinting chestnut . Slight nutty malt loaf aroma; sultana, coke. Mellow dusted plum; hints of roast. Unhoppily bitter. Anonymous.
