Wow. I was not too impressed with this brewery’s Hell, but this Heller Bock is tremendous. I love the style, but there are so many bad examples of it (usually American brews that come out too hot). This one is an archetype. It is not unlike Einbecker’s wonderful Maibock, but I think the latter might have some more complex malt. Nevertheless, this beer would be an absolutely perfect beer to pour for someone who wants to know what Heller Bock tastes like. JensenTaster (1719) - DENMARK - JAN 1, 2008
(on bottle)Clear yellow, white head. This could be one aavarage hardpackin´bock, end of story. Maibocks carry alot of malt and a very warming finish, as do this brew. But there´s a very interesting aromapattern in it. A blend of roastyness, fresh barley and dryness, I´ve never met in such a pale beer. Along with the finish, wich is a mix of spelt and whole-grainmash, this is a very nice beer. nuplastikk (6452) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 7, 2008
500ml bottle Heller Belli Bock bottle. Light golden color with a faint cloudiness. Very sweet and rich, with the pungent malt/yeast characteristics of a Maibock. Fruity tastes dance around the moderately high alcohol. A little more of a floral aroma and mild hop character than a lot of Bocks. Great beer, for the true German Lager lover. dwyerpg (6410) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - FEB 18, 2008
Wow. Nice. First impression. Malty first sip and the same from thereon. Quite nice, though a bit on the malty side for me. freezy (55) - Minnesota, USA - SEP 20, 2011

(500 ml bottle (simply called "Aktien Maibock", stamped "02.06") from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/maryland/baltim target=blank>Wells Discount Liquors) Mostly smooth rich malt with a tiny bitter bite...Pours hazy pale yellow with a marshmallow fluff white head. Aroma of honey, bread, hay and something a bit sourish like wet blanket. Mouthfeel quite full, fairly smooth. Taste is kind of a sweet and sour honey/bread/hay with a bit of bitterness. Hint of smoke. Bit of licorice in finish. Liked it but not sure about the light sour/wet blanket aspect. teddybeer (4114) - Madrid, SPAIN - FEB 24, 2012
33cl bottle. Golden beer with a good formation of off-white head. Creamy and moderate lasting. Aroma is malty, grassy and herbal. Flavour is slightly sweet, malty, bready, with a final slightly bittery. Dense on palate with a bready and mild sweet aftertaste. Carbonation is soft. Body is medium to high. Texture is oily. Draft at Hollingshead Deli in Orange, CA; Nose of sweet honey and wheat, hazy gold with a small white head; flavor is spicy with caramel and wheat in a medium light body that tingles your tongue! CaptainCougar (7634) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - APR 16, 2007
Bottle sampled on 12/2/06: Pours a pale clear golden with a wispy lacing white head. Aroma of sweet pale German malt with some caramel and light fruity notes. Starts sweet, fairly viscous, and German malty with some light fruity complexity for balance. A decent Heller Bock. bboeckl (142) - Grafton, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 7, 2007
Bottle. Poured a light pale yellow. Decent lacing. Very malty and grainy. A hearty Bock that has a great mouthfeel. Simple grain flavor but not much else going on. Good substantial beer. Nothing extraordinary though. This one’s got the basics down. I would buy again.
