servita malissimo,un olfattiva un pòtroppo delicata, ma buoni sentori di malto tostato abbastanza persistenti. Enniskillen (2051) - Bakersfield, California, USA - OCT 4, 2008
Brown with a nice off white head. Aroma is chocolate, smoke, light roastiness, yeast, raisins. Taste is raisin, toffee, caramel, chocolate, light smokiness. BlackDonald (1126) - Gulf Shores, Alabama, USA - JUN 5, 2008
Pours a murky dark brown with some ruby highlights. Has a small off white rocky head. Aromas of fruit and licorice, with a bready biscuity maltiness. Really rich and easy to drink. DocLock (10683) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 2, 2007
Bottle from State Line. Dark brown color with aroma of caramel malt, some brown sugar, figs, toffee. Medium palate with flavors of roasty caramel malt, slight nuts, brown sugar, and some toffee and backup hops late.

UPDATED: MAY 11, 2007 From the bottle into a pint glass - Dark brown with a light frothy head that dissipated quickly but retained a nice lacing. Very good aroma, nice mellow bready toffee flavor with a touch of caramel. Very good beer. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - MAY 5, 2007
Bottle: Burnt caramel in color, on the darker side, moderate foamy head, bubbles are fine, fairly nice lacing.   Soft toasted
malt, some whole wheat like bread character as well.   Seems somewhat sweet.   Bready on the tongue, toasty in a whole wheat sense.
Definitely on the sweet side.   Body and mouthfeel are on par, moderate.   Clean finish, remains bready and sweet, light
toasted malts with maybe even a hint of dark pitted fruit and unripened black cherry linger.   Decent. jpm30 (1587) - East Central, Georgia, USA - DEC 9, 2006
From a 500 ml. euro bottle with an unmarked freshness date on the front label.
Poured a slightly hazy caramel nutty brown with a foamy, fluffy, creamy head that settled into a thin bubbly lacing, minimal amount of laced ringed sticking.
Smells like a dunkel, aromas of toasted nuts and caramel, a light breadiness, a little cocoa and dark fruits with a touch of medicinal herbs.
The proper moderate carbonation that I like in German lagers and a malty crisp, velvety smooth medium bodied mouthfeel.
Tastes of caramel, cocoa, nuts and a little grainy bready, a trace of raisin sweetness, a light herbal hop with bare traces of spices, and a chocolate and caramel maltiness in the finish with a lingering fruitiness.
A nice dunkel lager, easy drinkability, purchased for $1.99 a bottle, so I feel it also affordable.

Toasty aroma, with some dark fruits, brown sugar and maple syrup. The flavor is a little light and thin, and could be a little bit more full bodied, but the flavors that are present are quite tasty. Some light spice and caramel round out the toasty flavor profile. Not bad. DarkElf (3062) - La Jolla, California, USA - APR 18, 2006
(500 ml bottle: $2.59 at Hollingshead Deli in Orange, CA) First off, according to the imprinted date, this beer was bottled on the 14th day of, hey wait, the month and year on the brown label have blocked out! Every other part of the label is shiny except those two white blocks. I’m less than pleased. Pouring the beer, carbonation is pretty low, as the thin head is mostly a few large bubbles along with a ring and partial sheen. The beer itself is light brown in color and fairly clear. Both the flavor and nose are heavily earthy, but also very malty, caramely, toasty, mildly sweet and gently bitter. A bit of slight oxidation and breadiness are present in the finish. Medium bodied, somewhat dry on the palate, lightly carbonated mouthfeel. This is almost certainly a very old bottle, but it’s held up remarkably well. Aside from the obvious earthiness, it’s quite pleasant and doesn’t show significant signs of oxidation and no cardboard. Decent. But I’m still pissed that the date’s been blocked out.
