50cl bottle. Pours clear orange brown colour with a huge good lasting beige head. Aroma of toasted malt, mild red fruits. Taste of toasted malt, caramel, spicy hops, grains, nothing special!

Metallerner Geruch. Leicht fauliger Antrunk, süßlich-hopfiger Mittelteil. Im Nachgeschmack wird die Hopfigkeit langsam herber, dabei etwas malzern. Kann niemanden vom Hocker reißen.. Test vom 11.4.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 6,7,8,7,9,8 - 7,55

Draught at BBF13. Fruity aroma. Clear dark brown colour. Big stable tan head. The flavour is caramelly, rather watery. Perfumy hoppiness. Very anonymous.

UPDATED: JUL 21, 2006 Bottle. Coffee, chocolate, chestnut malt aroma - complex. Dark brown color with quickly collapsing head. Very nice creamy mocha malt taste with the slightest hint of hops - palate lasts well after swallowing - this brewery is a hidden jewel in Franconia - great beers.

Bottle: Clear, deep amber coloured, persistent off-white lacy head; light dark-malty nose with traces of vegetables and metal; light to moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; short, drying out malty&coffeeish finish. Not bad, but very tame..........

Maria (10212) - Thisted, DENMARK - AUG 5, 2013
It’s mahogany with a huge, creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel, light fruit and nuts. The flavor has a light sweetness with notes of caramel, roasted malt, hay, fruit, and the finish is fairly dry.

JorisPPattyn (9928) - Ursel, BELGIUM - JUN 2, 2007
Dark brown beer with an orange-gold shine; end of a rim for head. I would venture some smoked malt in the nose! For the rest, classical, bready, sweet-ish notes with some vegetal, fresh hints. Sweet main taste, slightly bitterish, earthy & leafy as it ought to be! Light to medium bodied, rather good carbonation. Very tasteful Dunkel. Well worth looking for. Ochsenfurt is supposed to be very nice as well, and maybe a bit overlooked by the classical beertrails.

MoritzF (9851) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - JUN 20, 2009
(bottle) Clear, chestnut-brown colour with a big and beige foamy head. Sweet and slightly toasted malty aroma with a slightly doughy and nutty touch, accompanied by a whiff of caramel and hops. Light-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Mildly toasted malt character, slightly bready and crusty taste with a touch of herbal hops; dry-ish, moderately bitter and toasty finish with a tinge of metal. Nice but not more (20.06.09).
