深みのある赤色のビール。カラメルの香りとほのかな甘味が特徴。 ホップのほどよい苦みとカラメル麦芽の香りがうまく調和したビール。 その名の通り赤い色をしています。限定醸造商品です。

Refreshing and smooth. Sunrise ale also starts with a soft subtle entry. It uses high quality German hop and barley, and soft water from Kawaba village.

Curry-ya, NYC bottle: pours bronze with an off white head. Aroma is caramel, earthy. Taste is kind of bland. Not too seeet or very bitter. Mild aftertaste. Not bad.

From tap at Setagaya Summer Festival 2015. Poured into a paper cup - with a massive head that just refuses to settle down. Finally I get through the foam and see some hazy amber colour. Aroma is mostly soap water, also some malts but not much else. Taste is bitterish, bit of fruits, somewhat messy but still drinkable. I guess this is your average Japanese ji-biiru nothing more, nothing less.

Poured from a bottle (or three) in Hong Kong. Pours a nice amber with moderate head, retention, and lacing. Light biscuit aroma, not much hops on the nose. Very dry with bread and biscuit overtones and a light crisp bitter finish. A light crisp ale that I might have guessed to be a craft lager. A pleasant but not particularly special or memorable beer, but if you're drinking ale at sunrise this might just hit the spot.

4/30/15 12 oz bottle. Darker Amber color with small head. Very little aroma or taste to it. Slight carmel malt flavor but very watery and light. Not gonna buy this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Japanese Brewery 148. Bottle from World Beer Market as Kawaba Red Ale served in a pint glass. It pours a nice amber brown with a light beige head. My first whiff gave me fruity notes while a deeper inhalation brought forth caramel and figs. Med-thin bodied with a tongue scraping mouthfeel. The taste is caramel & candied figs but it finishes on a harsh medicinal bitterness. Shame as the nose was quite promising.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy dark amber with small foamy off-white head, faint caramel aroma, high carbonation, thin body, watery caramel taste, abrupt finish. Feels quite weak.

Pours a nice amber. Nice balanced beer like the snow weizen form Kawaba I would not go out of my way to get it but would have it if I was having Japanese.

330 ml bottle bought at Sogo Fresh Mart in Causeway Bay.

Cloudy hazy amber colour with bits of yeast sediments; One-quarter finger head with soapy off-white foam which fades in 20 seconds; Good sticky lacing and notable near zero carbonation; Fragrant and sweet aroma of ale malt, with strong caramel, plums, figs, light floral nectar, molasses, sugar, biscuits, yeast and light grass; Very light sweet taste of amber malt, with moderate roastyness, caramel, thick bread, dry biscuits, yeast, very light lemon and very low bitter grassy hops; Close to light body. Dry, crisp and thin palate; Mouth feel is very amber-malty dry crisp roastiness. Some faint molasses in solid caramel background. Bready and biscuit, low hops and not much fruity esters. Very straight forward and faultless. Okay Hoppiness is light floral and faint grass in nose. Very light lemon and grass in taste. Bitterness is low-fi in background for a mostly roast malt-low astringent finish; Dry crisp after taste; Fairly easy to mouth.

Comments: This one is as straight forward and honest as James Squire Nine Tales Amber Ale, with more on maltyness, good sweet aroma and solid caramel taste. But its almost twice as expensive as the latter, and theres nothing too memorable about it. So its solid and nice to try, but not top nor a go-to.
