COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Germans are known for their lagers, but in Northern Germany (especially Dusseldorf), Altbier is a common bier. Altbier is a malty clean-tasting, copper-colored ale with a distinct level of hop bitterness. KC Bier Co’s Doppel Alt is brewed in the tradition of a Sticke—a brewery’s seasonal Alt with higher alcohol and a special formulation. Doppel Alt is a dry-hopped medium bodied ale with toasted malt and caramel flavors balanced by noble hop bitterness and an aromatic hop nose of tropical fruit and mint.

4 oz draft taster glass at Harry’s Tavern (attached to Lukas Liquor) in Martin City, Missouri. The pour is a clear copper golden with a white head that leaves behind nice lace. The aroma is caramel malt and floral grass. The taste is the herbal grass, caramel malt all integrated and decently clean. The palate is medium to heavy bodied with soft carbonation and a floral dry finish.

A good alt bier. Malty with a nice caramel backbone. Hops are understated and the maltiness is really well done.

On tap at the brewery. It poured a clear amber color with an off-white head. The aroma was of toasted malts, caramel and hops. The taste was of sweet malts, caramel, mildly spiced hops and some fruit. The finish was malty up front with a lingering spiced hops aftertaste. Tasty.
