Dark brown with a small off white head. Aroma is strong cacao and cinnamon, cappuccino. Flavor is strong toffee with some slightly dark chocolate and espresso, with a gentle bitter and warming aftertaste. Not bad but maybe not justifying the high abv with complexity

Black pour, with some dark brown notes. Pillowy light tan cap, lasts quite a while, great retention. Smells beautifully from afar. A lot of chocolate pudding, fudge, milky cocoa drink, hints of vanilla, rich caramel, toffee. Hints of coffee powder and cinnamon. Feels like you just stepped into a candy shop. The taste hits with a lot of chocolate, and im conflicted here: its rich, like a strong, concentrated cocoa drink, but it also has a bit of an artificial note to it. Thats easy to ignore tho, because theres a lot more here: espresso, dark cocoa biscuits, caramel fudge (duh!), salted toffee, induced hints of vanilla. Theres also some hop around, with a nice zesty bite to it, not totally subtle. Finish has quite a bit of an alcoholic burn. And it kinda lingers, alongside some dusty cocoa and coffee powder notes. It gets from sweet to dry and boozy rather quickly. Medium body and carbonation. Not exactly too creamy. Really rich flavours in this imperial stout, but it has its quirks. Still, a really tasty treat. And really complex.

EerieDrinks (130) - Malm, SWEDEN - APR 19, 2017
1 finger light tan head. Almost pitch black beer. Aroma is caramel (duh), brown sugar and bourbon smokeyness. Hints of roasted coffeebeans and vanilla. Simple yet effective on a sweettooth like me. Taste is caramel, chocolate, tamarin soy, hazelnuts and a slight citric hop bitterness. Roasty at the end. Thick mouthfeel, while still being watery (for once, this is positive!) enough to have a strange but awesome drinkability to it. At 11,5%, that is nothing to joke about. Absolutely no trace of alcohol in this one. Smooth as hell too. Overall: Very tasty but I feel this would be better as a regular stout since it lacks the depth and intensity of an Impy. With that said, I find it awesome and rare to have a stout before me that is both tasty with every sip and isnt heavy at all, especially for the ABV. Have to lower the rating for the taste since Im always rating for the style but that doesnt take away that this beer is awesome. This is a stout I would like to have in my stash year round. Well done, Kees.
