33cl bottle at home from De Caigny, Belgium. Nose is smoked roasted malt, coffee. Body is nearly black, head is medium, brownish, creamy, mostly lasting, good lacing. Aroma is smoked peppery sausage, old wood, black pepper, dust, coffee, salmiak. light sweet, medium to heavy bitter. Finish is long lasting roasty medium bitter. Full body, dry texture, medium carbonation. Not that easy dessertish beer, simple smoky roasty, well balanced, nice one.

Deep dark brown, almost black. Small light tan cap. A lot of peat on the nose, quite rough, with some alcohol, too. Still, not exactly making me think of any great Islay. Some dark cherry, charcoal, ristretto, earthiness. The taste is rather interesting. Some nice coffee from the start, chocolatey, floral, but not exactly acidic. As a contrast, some zesty hops hit from the start, too, but the bitterness stays within limits. Deep roasted malts, with a burnt caramel edge and some ashy-burnt bread, with the peat more subtle than on the aroma. Finishes a bit spicy, hoppy, more than mildly bitter. Aftertaste has coffee dregs, dried grapefruit peel and dusty burnt bread crust. The bodys a bit light, carbonation low. The alcohol isnt causing any trouble. A pretty interesting smoked porter, one that goes down way too easily.

Bottle from het Biermoment batch 16.84 BB 02/19, 33 cl sample. Dark brown color, short frothy head. Aroma of lots of smoked malts with bacon and campfire ashes, slight iodine and peat. Peat and licorice saltiness in taste, bit sharp and dry wood and ashes. Feels a bit unpolished and raw.

Bottle from Beer Zoo. Black body with a medium beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of peat and salted chocolate. Flavour of copper, nuts and coffee. Thin to medium body body with a smooth texture. Light fizz. Would benefit from more sweetness.

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, mild smokey peat and some chocolate. Taste has nice soft smokey peat, chocolate, creamy coffee, red fruit and a bitter finish. Full soft mouthfeel. Obviously based on his emelisse lvstro, but I like this version better. Very nice.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 26 Feb 2017) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, smoky nose with coffee, dark chocolate, tar and smoke. Malty, roasted taste with notes of black coffee, black rye bread, smoke and a generous roasty bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and quite powerful, with lots of coffee and and an interesting smoke touch. Very nice.
