martijnendaan (2) - - AUG 20, 2017 does not count

Bottled from BierNavigatie.nl. Nearly opaque brown colored, small beige head. Malty nose, raisins, molasses, caramel, beautiful. Malty flavor, caramel, also quite some hop bitterness. Tastes somewhat under-aged, may be absolutely brilliant after a few years of aging. Another solid brew from Kees.

Zeer goed!

33 cl bottle @ home. Deep brown color with a red hue. Dense off white head, but not much. Aroma’s of toffee, red fruit and alcohol. Retronasal it’s caramel, hops, alcohol. Flavor is moderate sweet, moderate bitter. Strong alcohol feel, warming. Medium bodied. Finishes moderate bitter. Nice, but not Kees’ finest.

Allemaal heel netjes.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a red to opaque brown withh a small white head and an aroma of figs, dried plums, sweet malts, caramel and cocoa. The taste is medium to heavy sweet with some slight sourness in the finish.

Gerbeer (3796) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 19, 2017
330 ml bottle. Pours a dark mahogany/brown with light persistent head. Aromas of sweet caramel, sticky dark fruit, and doughy malts. Flavors are dark fruit with definite figs, dry toasted malts, bread crusts and rye. Dry, sharp and somewhat hot, contradicting the nose.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Cotteridge, Birmingham, consumed at Scott and Mandy’s, Dumbleton, Glos and Worcs border, Saturday 13th May 2017 Pours dark brown with a little beige head. Fruity but more of the sticky dried variety so think figs, dates (especially dates) that sort of thing but backed up with a big caramel laden body, there is a little sweet orange also. Lovely barley wine. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 4.0

(Kees Sunturn) Bottle 330ml at home, served into a snifter, ABV 12% Dark brown colour on the body, a bit murky, with a small thin dark beige head on top. Aroma has caramel, hints of chocolate, dark fruits, figs. Taste begins sweet with caramel, toffee, dark fruits, raisins, figs, a bit of alcohol, then mildly bitter finish with some roasted malts. Medium body, soft carbonation. Nice.
