Mariusz (12066) - Baden-Baden, GERMANY - SEP 5, 2012
Dark yellow color. Somewhat sweet, malty flavor, with caramel and some dried fruits. Rather bland and sweet, but ok.

Das Keiler Urtyp kommt wie seine Weißbierbrüder in der gedrungenen, langhalsigen 0,5l-Bügelverschlußflasche zu mir. Ich konnte es fast nicht glauben, aber dieses Bier gibt es tatsächlich als Spessart-Exportartikel in viele Lebensmittelgeschäft-Einkaufszentren bei Asschaffenburg, Babenhausen und Hanau. Die Etikettierung hat wieder pergamentfarbigen Grund, hier mit beigebrauner (nicht sehr schicker) Umrandung. Auch hier lächelt ein Keilerkopf froh einem Bierglas entgegen, welches er in seinem „Pfötchen“ hält, das sieht einfach sympathisch aus. Gleiches gilt für den Inhalt: goldblond steht es im Glas, mit einem Stich ins rötliche, aber das Beste ist der feine, großzügige und wirklich stabile Schaum. Geschmacklich würzig-süffig, gut. Ja, diesen Urtyp kann man trinken – und auch Gästen anbieten. Ein leckeres und mildes Bier, das ist "Premium", endlich mal wieder ein "Premium", das diesen namen auch verdient. Ohne viel Worte, eins der besten deutschen Urtyp-Biere!! To me this is the perfect lager. The malty grain flavor is exactly what I think of when I think of German lager. There is a hint of mature sweetness here. Aroma is very bready and grainy with a good amount of herbal and spicy noble hops. A bit of a toasty quality and something almost like a slight fruitiness. It is not sweet like candy or fruit but like the sweetness that you can taste from a carrot or ear of corn only after having abstained from artificial sugars for a week. I can’t see any way that you could make this taste better. Burnished gold, almost copper hue. Slightly Hazy amber color with a bubbly, white 1-inch head that settles to a thin film over the top. Lots of carbonation is present, and there is nice lacing on the glass. The color on this beer is great. This is one hell of a German Urtyp brew. It is tasty enough to remain interesting throughout the night, but it is light and simple enough to avoid commanding your attention or burning out your taste buds. Seriously, seriously drinkable!!!!!

Das Bier schmeckt urig, insgesamt aber auch relativ mild. Hopfig-malzig startet das Bier, diese Mischung setzt sich auch in kräftigerer Form im Mittelteil durch. Dabei wirkt der Abgang leider wässrig, die eh schon milden Aromen scheinen hier plötzlich abzusacken. Nur ein dezentes Hopfen Aroma dringt hier noch durch. Der Ansatz bei diesem Bier gefällt mir, leider ging dies dann doch in eine andere Richtung als ich mir das vorgestellt habe. Schade! Bierkrug (2129) - - NOV 8, 2010
500 ml bottle in Germany. Chestnut brown clear color, with an off white head. Aroma is malt and fruir. Taste is much the same but more intensive. Ends smooth and warming. A nice brew and different.

AirForceHops (7538) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - SEP 17, 2010
I got this bottle from a C- 5 air crew member who stopped in Germany on a lay over. Pored into a lager glass. Pours a brown body with white, fluffy head. Aroma is malt, funk and very faint caramel. Almost no head at all. Taste is very light all the way around. Earthy tones with weak malt. Thank god it tastes better then it smells. One big note: the best before date was 7- 21-2010.. so I enjoyed this past it’s prime. If I had it when it was fresher, it may have been better.

MullMan (1099) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - AUG 1, 2010
0,5l bottle, with an illustration of a wild boar raising a glass. Got this from my brother-in-law, but don’t know where he got it. Light tan thin creamy head that disappears very quickly, clear amber/copper body. Aroma is faint caramel malt, straw, cereal grains, and faint brazil nuts. Flavor starts nutty and grassy, then grainy malt, and some weak caramel malt. Body is thin and a bit watery. Low carbonation. Nothing too exciting, but would go nice with a light end-of-summer meal. DocLock is probably spot on with the fish & chips. Octoberfest is right around the corner!

Golden with a white head.. Aroma is fresh made corn tortillas and grain...Flavor is very clean oktoberfest..So good, would drink this all day!

500ml bottle. Rating #34. Dark gold pour with a nice white head. Corn aroma, mass maybe, very grainy. Sweet tea like flavor, a little more corn, but it was good stuff though. (1340)

DocLock (10833) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 3, 2010
Swing top bottle from Capone’s. Pours dark straw toward copper w 2-f of head. Nose is liquid Wheaties, mild nuts, hops, brown sugar. Tastes like liquid Wheaties, corny, nutty, with some caramel and a medium to light palate heft and complexity. Too light to be a marzern contender, but with no major flaws, as such. This one would pair well with beer battered cod and chips, methinks.

Braudog (6789) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - JAN 1, 2010
Swing-topped bottle, with much thanks to a local C-5 crew. Deep copper and shiny with a nice active appeal. The aroma is of sweet apple cider. This drinks with a lot of that sweetness -- apple and grape, and a bit of summer grass. (#3781, 1/1/2010)
