Named after Paisley's river, White Cart Water, this golden full bodied ale boasts smacks of flavour. The appearance is enhanced by a touch of wheat malt, giving good head retention and a wonderfully dry after-taste that won't be easily forgotten. As the name suggests feel free to enjoy 'Cart Blanche' as the mood dictates.

Cask pint at NERAX on 5/3/07
Being a big fan of Kelburn, I got a full pint of this bad boy, not knowing what to expect. "Full bodied" said the description. Well, lets just say, it wasnt lying. How they got so much body out of a 5% golden ale on cask, I dont know. It was incredibly difficult to finish though. Mostly bright, beige-to-muted-gold color with a strong white head and moderate lacing.
Some paper, lots of breadiness and strong fruits (nectarines, peaches) in the nose. Just an ever-so-slight hint of sulphur. Very creamy and "full" without being overly aromatic. Definitely has a touch of wheat dryness and lots of dextrines, seemingly. Honey-almond notes and lots of whitebread on the finish. Typical funky, almost farmy yeastiness. Hops showed bitterness, but seemed to be minimally aromatic, only releasing a light, nutty, floral scent.
Incredibly strong body is immediately perceptible in the flavor. Almost chewy, the beer is a mouthfull and then some. Lots of bland biscuits, lightly sweet cream and white dough with some lemon sugar cookie notes that seem to be the most flavorful part of the beer (though still not very flavorful). Dextrinous or starchy or something, it really isnt that sweet, just full. Carbonation is moderate, but a little loose, not really bolstering the mouthfeel. Lots of fruitiness and lightly bitter hops, but the biscuity, bready, grainy malts show through the strongest. No alcohol perceived, no flaws in the flavor. Definitely unique....

Cask conditioned at Banbury Beer Fest 07. Golden amber with white head. Soft fruity beer, hints of lychee and quite perfumey. I found it to be a touch sweet with little finish. Its ok, but i expected more.

Gravity Cask @ Battersea Beer Festival. Fruity leafy hops. Dry malt with slight breadyness. Really good finish. Balancing the fruity hop flavours with drying bitterness and pervasive malts.

Good clarity. Missing head. Golden body. Fruity foundation over aroma and malt. Fresh grapefruit and lemon combined with some light hoppy bitter undertones. Refreshing and moreish(Half on gravity at The St Albans Beer Festival 28.09.2006).

1 pint cask, Thompsons. Golden colour with notes of copper. A slight haze can be seen. Small creamy and bubbly off-white head. Gentle crisp malty aroma. Nice sharp biterness that cuts through the malts in the finish. The aftertaste is drying from the hops. Soft texture balanced by hop bitterness. Delicious ale, and very drinkable.
