Growler filled at Bellport Cold Beer & SOda and consumed the next day. Pours a clear deep brown with some reddish highlights and a thin off-white head that lasted through the first two sips and left a spotty film on the glass. Pleasant aroma of lightly roasted malt and mild chocolate. The flavor is similar with perhaps a bit more roast and the same mild chocolate. Fairly smooth finish. Nice aroma of chocolate, roasted coffee, cream. the flavor is strong chocolate, sweet, cream. The appearance is brown, ruby hue, tan head. The finish is a light resiny hop bittering. On tap at Barcade: Light brown pour with a rich tan head which leaves a substantial lacing. The aroma is slightly funky. Hints of olives, lots of anise, hemp and some caramel maltyness. The body is pretty creamy, with apparent nutty flavors. Some almondy sweet hints, lots of licorice, and roasted caramel malts. Didn’t pick up on a lot of chocolate, but there were light cocoa hints here and there. Finish is lightly roasted with some residual grain flavors. Pretty solid stuff.

Sampled at the NY Brewfest on 9/12. Not able to give a very accurate rating due to the sheer number of brews sampled. Very few ratings on this one.. A unique concept which is very cool. Growler from Bierkraft. Translucent dark brown with a frothy almond color head. Spotty lacing. Milk chocolate and grainy malt aroma, with some hops coming up underneath. Charred chocolate and coffee flavors, slightly husky and grainy. Some sharp bitterness on the finish, which I think is overly cutting. Serviceable locally brewed Schwartzbier, but nothing special.
