Under $10 Growler pours are good. This one from DeCicco’s in Ardsley, NY. Pours a nice rich shade of dark maple, under a moderate medium khaki head, that does not impress retention wise but does suprise with its left behind fine, scattered and copious lace. Nose of lightly roasted malt, and the becoming more prominant as it warms chocolate glow. Easy drinking lager, with more then moderate chocolate malt tendencies. Tastes like a goey medium chocolate brownie and thats a good thing. Would likely work well with a chocolate or some other sort of dessert. Enjoyable and well crafted. Worth a try. On tap at Barcade: Light brown pour with a rich tan head which leaves a substantial lacing. The aroma is slightly funky. Hints of olives, lots of anise, hemp and some caramel maltyness. The body is pretty creamy, with apparent nutty flavors. Some almondy sweet hints, lots of licorice, and roasted caramel malts. Didn’t pick up on a lot of chocolate, but there were light cocoa hints here and there. Finish is lightly roasted with some residual grain flavors. Pretty solid stuff. Draft. Pours a brown body. Notes of coco, chocolate, a hint of smoke, caramel, dark fruit. Not bad. sheatripper (863) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - FEB 17, 2009
Growler from Bierkraft. Translucent dark brown with a frothy almond color head. Spotty lacing. Milk chocolate and grainy malt aroma, with some hops coming up underneath. Charred chocolate and coffee flavors, slightly husky and grainy. Some sharp bitterness on the finish, which I think is overly cutting. Serviceable locally brewed Schwartzbier, but nothing special.

Dark brown pour w/ red highlights. Arouma of chocolate, coffee and nuts. Smokey roasted malts, biscuity grain notes backed by some bitter. Smooth but a little thin. Not bad but nothing special. golubj (1377) - San Mateo, California, USA - NOV 3, 2007

@ Brazen Head on cask-pours a tan head and dark brown/red color. Aroma is chocolate, dusty, dark fruit. Taste is chocolate, dusty, dark fruit, secondary flat/metallic (English?) hops. Interesting, like a dark mild. Mild carbonation. goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - DEC 10, 2007
Brewtopia 07. Poured a mostly clear brown color with an off-white head. Aroma of diacetyl and light chocolate.. Dry mild chocolate flavor and a fairly dry finish.
